@Oddn77512 жыл бұрын
@@Ginnpis I'm not a communist or marxist(very much against it), but when critiquing ideologies I think it's better to look at their actual writings, and not how tyrannical dictators took advantage of their ideas. There's a genuine argument to be made that these weren't "real communists". It's way more productive and good faith to concede that when discussing the topic
@Ginnpis2 жыл бұрын
@@Oddn7751 I can agree with that sentiment, one time ok, two times a coincidence, but damn near every single regime/nation that has adopted it has lead to disaster? Maybe, just maybe something in those writings that put those ideas in their heads. And if there is an argument to be made that none of them were “true communist”, is true communism even humanly possible to achieve? Id say human nature is a not in favor of that. If you were say aloud your were a proud fascist, you would be shamed. But now communism, Marxism, and socialism are taught and actively encouraged as a good thing in schools in the west. We don’t say h**ler and Mussolini were just a couple bad eggs that gave fascism a bad name, no! Fascism is almost universally hated and agreed that it is inherently flawed and caused these men to take the actions they made, so why is there a double standard for communism? I am not trying to argue with you, what you say is very sensible and intelligent and clearly you know more than I do on the subject. I just wanted to vent my frustration on how you have to walk on eggs shells to discuss something that is so clear to see if you have lived in a once communist country like I have.

@@mikesmith6469doubt it. The blacks were content with their lives until Europeans came in and colonized everything. They don't have a written language, so? South Africa and Rhodesia were the most powerful countries in the region. However, the Portuguese colonies of Angola and Mozambique deserve to be more well known. The former had a white population of 280,000 in 1970 -a larger European population than Rhodesia-whereas Mozambique’s white population in 1970 numbered 163,000. (The figures are taken from Claudia Castelo's book, Passagens para Africa). Most Rhodesians never went to Angola but Mozambique was a popular holiday destination and the majority of Rhodesians who spent time there did so at Beira, the country’s second most important city. However, it was well worth heading down to the capital Lourenco Marques (which incidentally attracted many South African holidaymakers), and was one of the finest cities in Africa. Here’s footage of LM in 1970: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqLciICMmJ56q9U

It's surprisingly common in anti colonial nationalist songs, I hear it a lot in Irish rebel songs too. Oh, there's a lot of upbeat or violent sounding ones, but this soft tone is entirely too common for the subject matter and I love it. It's also present in older Soviet/Bolshevik war songs/revolution songs, I don't like it in those as much but then I've never liked softer Russian music in general, the Soviet anthem is about as slow and soft as I'll tolerate, so.
