YT showed me this video. I'm age 22 and did gymnastics for 14 years. For various reasons when I was age 16 I was severely beat up by older athletes after I did a full bar workout.. They held me in a full nelson and targeted my abs for a very long time. After I recovered enough I went into our summer school's weight room to start to gain a lot more muscle mass--my legs in particular. I have a very muscular upper body but as a gymnast never wanted large legs. I showed up and met a good number of wrestlers who had already heard about a gymnast who can take hard punches. I was adopted from Ukraine and raised from a young boy in a rural American town. I was bullied all my life and had no friends at my school. Those wrestlers admitted they heard what happened. They basically took me in (one guy called me a rescue dog) and we trained the rest of summer. When school started I had enough new friends that made high school for the first time a place I wanted to be. One of the coaches made a space where I could do gymnastics training (academy was almost 2 hours away and hard to some daily training). He tried to talk me into joining the wrestling team but I'm a gymnast at heart. Some guys on the team wrestled me and told me just try not to get pinned. It was fun but. I grew taller and added more muscle but got too much into training to take hard punches. I didn't know how much my popularity was in my lean physique and doing severe abdominal training. There were 3 wrestlers who became my best friends but they also enjoyed me training by taking their punches. It was a small price to pay. Gymnasts and wrestlers are similar. We both have to have a lot of strength. We compete as individuals but have a team behind us to cheer us on. My last 2 years of high school were really great and it's because of the wrestling team and a coach who loved how I trained and set me up well. He even installed still rings for me to use any time I wanted. I don't know you Rhonin but you being a wrestler made me happy.
