My _only_ gripe I have with tempering is the times I roll _the same affix _*_six_*_ times in a row._ I'm okay with bricking... but rolling the same 1 of 3 possible affixes over and over again is absurd.

Tempering Fix: Be allowed to choose between the current temper and all previous ones. So on your last temper, you can select any previously rolled option. This makes it so you can still "brick' but gives the ability to settle on something that will at least help your build a little.

its not so much tempering and masterworking that is the problem its rolling the same damn thing 4-5 times in a row that sucks. tempering makes it so u really only get to play 1 maybe 2 classes a season and i like to make all them usually but with tempering i brick so many good pieces of gear that i just stop playing sometimes cause its annoying i wanna kill monsters and be powerful not spend 2 hours farming mats and gold and then gambling my gear for it to be worthless in 5 mins.

One solution for the group Pit could be: On the notification screen, ask the party member if they want to also spend the mats to get full materials to get full rewards. Or make it baseline requirement for all party members to spend the rune shards. Similar to D3 GR keys.

Eg.: We have 5 rerolls by default for a normal legendary item, but if the item have 3 greater affixes, you will have 8 total rerolls being 5 (default reroll) + 3 (amount of greater affixes) = 8 total rerolls or if the item have only 1 greater affix, will be a total of 6 rerolls.

No one asked about an auction-house, but give us a fucking trade-hall or something, so we can actually trade items in game without needing external websites. It's getting to the point where I genuinely miss the weird Diablo2 trading where you open a game called "N Shaco O Ist" and wait for people to join. Just a board where I can say "I have this cool item, that I'm not using, give me X Gold". That way it would finally make sense to keep killing the bosses and farm uniques to sell them instead of running around with 8000 Living Steel because you don't need any items from that boss anymore.

I honestly like that uniques can't be tempered and that they're aiming for builds having 2-4 uniques. If I have 4 slots with which I don't have to feel the stress of tempering that is a win for me.

Exactly! What i loved about D2 itemization was, i got my set/unique, maybe slapped a socket on it, and i was done. I have never been a fan of any "item journey", especially if there is a lot of rng involved. I dislike especially masterworking for that reason. Right now i am playing enshrouded, and i love the simple item system. You get your item, according to its rarity you can unlock several affixes, which are shown right from the start, before you even start unlocking. And thats it (at least as far as i am into the game right now). Though funny thing is, my frozen orb sorc uses 5 uniques right now. I dont think that i have seen a char with less than 2.

so delete nightmare dungeosn from game? :D next you will compain that you have no materials to open beast in the ice and they shoudl drop more elsewhere... and BTW nightmare dungeons are the fastest way of leveling anyway, till you get to 90 you already have all glyphs at last 15, and if you have a good build by 95 they are all 21 (since it takes 3 ND per glyph to get from 15 to 21, that means 6*3 nightmare dungeons to get all 6 to 21). 18 nightmare dungeons times 3.5 minutes is what, 1 hour?

@@WatchingFromWork6636 A reasonable question, but not at all for a few reasons: 1. The core of what this experience is still DARPG. You are still killing waves of monsters that give you loot and currency just like everything else in the game. 2. This is not at all unique in the DARPG market. PoE has many different event types in the mapping system. One of them is very much a tower defense kind of mini game. On top of that, in a recent league, they had this bizarre arena mini game that had absolutely nothing to do with your character or normal gameplay which gave VERY solid rewards (I did not like it at all but I did not find it objectionable). 3. It is not THE end game activity. It is AN end game activity. So, it is just adding variety to how you engage with the core gameplay loop in later portions of the game. 4. There are no modifications to your character or abilities. Yes there are new environmental effects, but your skills and equipment are still what drive your success. This is not actually a critical issue for everyone but I myself prefer it. Fundamentally this is just like season 3 vaults. They had traps, they had the protective orbs and they had the multiple chests at the end based on your performance. In fact, I was sad to see them go because I liked them better than nightmare dungeons. So, yes I would be OK with it even if it was not my cup of tea. 😀

I'm pretty confused about the Invulnerability debuff. Yes, I totally agree that it has to go, but I hope you realize that most sorc builds can only comfortably get to Pit tier 80 before getting 1-shot into oblivion when the shield is not up (and yes, that's with max armor, max resists and as much life as you conceivably get without sacrificing crit chance, cooldown reduction, etc.). By nerfing the cooldown on Flame Shield, I will no longer be able to rotate between Ice Armor and Flame Shield with near 100-percent uptime, so pit 80 actually sounds worse than it already is. Something must be done.

Ehm. I don't even know that somebody used such silly trick. I only using flameshield to blow out something strong or live through something tough. Not all the time. Use elixirs and dodge projectiles. I leveled 89 without been invulnerable 100% of time so you can too. And i play not meta build. Flame sorc with incineration. I can't even get good wand and gloves. I'm sure that your sorc build is not that shitty. Just get good. You certainly can play better

They're adding some Aspects for survivability, but to your point yes, it will take a hit in the overall performance The other changes to weapons will also work (staves will buff burning and wands will buff frost for example), I'd expect that to partially soften up the drop

But what you're all missing is that group play already has an advantage. Each player brings more DPS to the team. Each player can explore the area by themselves. Its literally a balance thing.

It’s not impossible to balance; it’s been done before. If I recall correctly, I think this is how it works in D3. Don’t flame me if I’m wrong, it’s been a few years since I played D3, I’m just saying there is a way to balance group play vs. solo.

I'm a sorc main and I really don't get it. We took nerfs to ALL defensive skills as well as the burn paragon node. Not sure why they hate sorc so bad. It's not like burn damage was too OP while being uncapped.

They should simply give you an option in tempering that a tempered value is being blocked on the leftover roles. Yes, you can basically force a certain affix onto your item, but your still facing random values. This might open up re rolling a last attempt in hopes of a higher version of your affix.

I like that there are a lot of improvements coming to D4 in season 5. I would like it if there was some resource that can be dropped from all sources and can be used to “juice” tempering. Meaning this resource/item would make it so when you roll to temper, whatever the outcome, it rolls its max roll. This would reduce the amount of bricking items but it wouldn’t completely eliminate it.

Infernal Hordes feels like Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Chaos Chamber (pick a buff/debuf between waves, earn "crystals", then spend "crystals" on target loot if you succeed)...but that's fine I like that way to get loot....maybe other games have done similar things, I just know it from Wonderlands.

They didnt adress the actual issue with tempering. Its not rng. The number of times ive rolled the the same affix 6+ times in a row makes it statistically impossible. No way its not weighted. Garbage season.

It’s definitely weighted. I can’t remember where I read it but I read that the affixes at the top of the possibilities chart are the most likely and as you go further down they get harder n harder to actually roll. 📌Just realized that’s the issue with replacing stats at the occultist - I mixed the 2 things up BUT if it’s true for stat replacing then I don’t see why it wouldn’t be true for master working. First part is definitely true but second part is my opinion.

@@cajun1253 no joke. I tried to masterwork 3 items in a row a few days ago and rolled the same affix 6 times in a row on all 3 items. Thats 18 rolls in a row of the same affix. Imo no one can say the system is fine without being full of it.

oO you can play eternal you not need to restart then, but basicly less then 10% of the players do it like this .. the season ARE for restarting the restarting IS the motivation. if you dont wanna restart just dont play season the stuff comes to eternal too. without starting over game would already be dead. look at the motivation the start of a season when people have to restart tehy come back play and when people reach level 100 with most best gear they stop playing until next season.

i'm glad D4 weathered the storm and now is shaping up to be a long term game for me. About 2 weeks per season has been the most I have been able to do so far. Next season I will not skip campaign see if I can add a week or 2 to playtime

we need more character slots and stash tabs and an armory and possibly more equipment like a belt and earings and then seperate inventory space for charms and then legendary gems to level up and another leveling system either with the gems or another capstone but a way how to buff your gear even more and we need a holy warrior class like a pally or cleric but i want to see my pet and my mount on character screen but we need more character slots stash tabs and an armory right away

Soooo..... there's nothing again for a seasonal mechanic that varies builds? That'd be 2 seasons in a row where they didn't do anything to vary up the meta progression that would allow for 2 nearly identical builds (via the skill tree) to play and perform different from one another. This really stifles any build variety. Season 2 is really the only season where we had anything like that.

I've purposely set up 15+ of the same item like a weapon to roll just looking for any small patterns in a 5 to 6 roll process. If the roll has 3 to choose from it's not so difficult, but when you have 4+ or more choices the rng is very difficult. So in the 4+ or more I've bricked them one by one with no particular number of rolls in mind and there is a pattern there. They can potentially roll up to 12 times to get the same type of roll whatever option it is continuously rolling, so the whole tempering extra roll per affix does not really entice. I am however eager to have more options to get greater affix gear. Sucks getting life per hit or other stats I can't even use for my build when we only have blood maiden to rely on and Uber bosses. Stingy stones i call the stygian stone don't drop near enough. So when people were bumming for bosses back in season 1 and so on is now the case for ubers. They really should cut down costs on all this and lighten up on stones. It's bad enough we got gold sellers and people in trade chat gobbling up stones with their wallets. May as well be promoting PTW. I got about 15 uber boss runs total so far and 19 stones left on me this season and nothing to show for at the brick station except 1 3GA bow that it ate. I haven't even seen 2GA upgrades for any of my characters. Guess I'll try PTR, but if don't pan well I'm out. What ever happened to easy to learn/ hard to master? Now it's easy to learn /too much rng and money. I'm going to share a little secret and i"m not proud of. I've been playing with a clan mate of mine from another game for this game D4 who happens to be a bit of a gambler and the addiction is very real. After blowing nearly 500million of my own gold and broke with under a million he felt he was doing right by first surprising me in trade with nearly 1.5 billion gold when I knew he was barely around lvl 50 or 60 att. I can't tell him what to do with his life or money, but I did settle for the 500million that took me weeks to farm just to keep going. I typically have my own strict code of farming my own which I still do. I'm just spreading the awareness. Blizzard needs to address this waaaay better and by giving us more ways to farm gold may sound neat on paper but it's only going to further drive inflation up. Right now stones in trade people asking for 60million for 1 and it takes 2 to get a boss fight in. There's no way I can compete with that market and have room for my own upgrading. I don't know if it's faster to raise a new character's wolf faction for 6 stones total or clearing pit 85 i barely got to recently on my rogue. I got 5 characters to 100 glyphs maxxed out.. You get 2 then 4 on the last 2 levels of faction. Sorry for long rant. I really do enjoy the rest of what we have so far. I'd just really love to see this addressed better in the future.

Diablo 3 also took a year before it became a much better game. Looking forward to it. Personally, I enjoy the fun simplicity approach of Diablo. For my D2 itch ill play more in depth systems with POE2 and Last Epoch

I think unique items should have affixes in ranges, but aspect power should be always max. It sucks when you get GA unique with low roll aspect on it.

The problem with uniques coming with baked-in tempered powers is that Blizzard is making the decision about what that power is instead of me. I don't give a flying *$@! what 93% of the player base puts in that slot. I want to put something else and I want to be able to make that choice. Whatever happened to "play your own way"? I'm not seeing it in Diablo IV. Not only that, it's getting further and further away.

I think to help rng, is to make where u won't roll the same or worse affex you already run, I like getting a skill buff for 1 and roll the same 1 instead of 2

The game is getting better. Good to see the effort. The gameplay loop in D3 is still better though despite having less end game activities. Crossing my fingers that D4 gets there eventually, I doubt the expansion is going to be meaty but combined with new items and skills it is moving forward but the pace is quite slow. Armory is going to come eventually, why are they making us wait for it intentionally I have no idea. Also I kind of miss the rune system where each skill changes quite significantly. I feel like legendary powers don’t visible change our builds enough. I also wonder if going this dark theme what the community wanted was the right path, I kind of liked the D3 cartoony colourful theme. Maybe it’s just me being nostalgic not sure.

Wishful thinking but i think tempering uniques would be good and still make them differ from legendaries. Have unique plans drop (rare item) these plans can only be used once and can come in a variety of affixes, from +1-3 all skills, +1-2 all passive skills, 30-50x fire damage or any element. Just spit ballin some stuff but i think it would make uniques a real chase item and can really be made to suit the build you are trying to make
