I think it works because it’s a showcase of what *not* to do. It’s hard to look at a hypothetical action and say “I should do that,” as opposed to looking at what you’re currently doing and saying “I should not be doing this.” CGP Grey (a very good KZbin channel) made a video called “How to Maximize Misery” that’s predicated on the same idea; instead of saying “do these things if you want to be happy,” it’s “doing these things will make you sad.” I recently got a tablet so I could draw more regularly and “draw more, care less” is a mantra at this point for me, whenever I find myself getting hung up on some trivial detail I just start reciting “draw more, care less” to myself

As someone who makes music, this perfectly encapsulates what it's like to be productive and struggle with mental illness. Doubting my talent, comparing my work to others, and an irrational need to "perfect" everything I put my effort into are things I struggle with daily. This video is just so beautifully made and AHHHH i love it so much!! I kept laughing at all the silly little bits sprinkled here and there those were some of my favorite parts. This video really hit close to home because I'm stuck in a loop of comparison and perfectionism and i just wish i could care less and focus on myself. I've done pretty well on stopping myself from getting into that loop and feeling down on my skill and ability but it gets a lil too hard sometimes. It's okay though I've made it this far I'm not gonna stop now.
