Gypsy jazz guitarists would object to chopping , methinks

Are you referring to modern chopping or old fashioned chopping? In a duo situation I think either might be welcome. With a second (rhythm) guitar you'd certainly want to play at below their level.

Modern chopping would be going too far for the majority of gypsy jazz guitarists. La pompe on violin would be fine,.albeit unknown, per se. I'm eager to try it. I play gypsy jazz guitar / jazz manouche.

Chopping is the precursor of palm mutting in heavy metal. So i completely approve and encourage 😂
