Honestly it's about the confidence the gymnast feels and displays. I really like Dina's red leo. It's sleek and we'll made. I just wish she had a more modern music to go with it.

So Mazur turned into a dominatrix, Dina belongs in Cirque du Soleil, Russia is basically Swarovski and flowers, and Viner is still causing nightmares.

Many gymnasts want to stand out and look different, but pretty much everybody end up looking similar to each other. Bright colors, swarovski, the more the better((( i'm looking forward to seeing a gymnast in a modest outfit. She will definitely stand out...

I remember Anna Bessonova had a modest outfit for clubs, i think in 2008. She wore a black and a red outfit that had only some details on the back and was completely without anything on the front :D

Modesty was back in the 90s etc. Like Oksana Skaldina's ball routine. Black leotard, pink ball. Simple, but yeh sleek and stylish. That said, I actually do quite like a lot of the leotard's in this, just not Kabaeva's leather straps, Averina's minimal coverage, or Mazur's 2nd gala outfit. The former two should not be allowed in competition, whilst Mazur's actually reveals too much bare skin for what should be a family-friendly event.

Well I love the diversity in styles and ideas😊 the feathers and 3D flowers are beautiful but sometimes I agree they can be overdone😂 It is intresting to see gymnasts expirementing with different styles and adding details in order to stand out😀

Most of those leotards are just too much, extra. You can't seriously see that first leo and think, oh, this is a good look. Russia has such extravagant tastes in leotards, I thought that they were getting more modern with Mamun and Kudry who had the most beautiful leotards, but this year, it went back to too much or even too little. Viktoria's were for exhibitions, I don't understand how you put it there, might as well have picked Mamun's huge rose outfit (which I liked). Also, it's Viktoria MaZur, not MaSur. Ukraine has great leotards, maybe they don't renew them as much as other countries, but they rarely have the money, Bessonova used to buy most of hers herself. But Rizatdinova, out of all the Ukrainian girls, has the worst taste in leos (except for the red ones she used in ribbon and hoop). I like the simplicity, their leos are flattering, like Diachenko's uni, her legs are stunning in them. I loved Staniouta's leos also last year, especially her ribbon and hoop. At the end, it's a matter of taste, and it shouldn't matter that much.

It's okay to add more crystals and decorations on the leos as long as the rules allow it. But honestly the trendy sleeveless leotards are just not attractive at all and look weird

Ukraine seems to have the worst taste in leotards.... they are always so simple and boring.... i don't get how they don't see that the Leos are awful especially compared next to the other gymnasts...

Ukraine is ridiculous. Bulgaria had it's era of ugly leos or wearing the same leos for years but it's not the case anymore. Now Bulgaria has too many new leos, some of them they wear only once (like the Olympic ones) and instead of giving them to the individual gymnasts, these leos are either in a wardrobe or in a sports museum I think. Why Ukraine can't be a little bit like Bulgaria and change the style of their clothes? Probably their designer is a very good friend with the Deriuginas and is hard to kick out a friend from her position in the federation hahha :) It's not only about lack of money. It's lack of ideas and imagination.

rhythmic passion Ukraine? I don't think so... in Rio the group had wonderful ones, by far the most classy and with that quality taste. And what I love about them is that they wear much more unitards than the other countries, the Averina's are starting now. But the unitards of Diachenko are wonderful.

I heard yesterday that Russia is banned from the Olympics in Japan. The Gymnastics team can perform but only under a neutral flag. The Russians were banned because of doping.
