So glad you mentioned the moving of the piston at the end. I thought mine was broken hahaha

I forgot to mention the inside of the barrel in my video !! Running a brush through a few times is a helpful step to add. If anyone out there has their own tips or tricks, I would love to hear about them in the comment section...

Thanks for the tips and information! I’ve had this same “B” model for a while but haven’t gotten around to shooting it and I was curious about how to clean it. Which piston and choke would you recommend starting with and is there any break in period for these? If so, should I shoot high brass through it to break it in?

I got the stormtrooper edition and it came with a white skeletonized pistol grip, to install that I need to replace the buttstock since the factory one is integrated with the grip; 1) is the buffer tube a typical milspec ar tube so that i can just get something i would normally get for an ar? 2) will I need to replace the buffer tube assembly for an aftermarket buttstock, which has multiple slide positions, or will I be able to use the factory buffer tube?

B12 carburetor cleamer. A tip from a Navy SEAL. Spray it in until black crud starts flowing out, them cycle the action several times. Repest until the B12 comes out clean. Let dry for a few minutes, oil with a wand applicator on all moving surfaces --- done. Works on pretty much all firearms.

What do you feel about break cleaner to clean the carbon off the barrel?
@21ctactical312 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure - haven't tried it. I'm guessing you're talking about BreakFree. Whatever you use, I would just make sure to wipe it down really well when you are done cleaning.

i just got my vr80 - midnight bronze edition 1st round jammed, i ejected shell and remaining 4 fired fine. Loaded 5 more rounds in same magazine, 1st one jammed other 4 worked fine... since then, the gun has not fired. I am not sure what is wrong. Manual say 1st 25 rounds may have malfunctions but I am very concerned. Using 00 buck 2&3/4 Captor premium shells any suggestions???????

Not even getting a strike on mines..sadly
@ryansweet9104 Жыл бұрын
These things really need quite a few 'heavy loads' to be broken in. I believe the manual states 250 shells for break-in? I myself was having problems with firing right out of the box. I ran 100 2-3/4" 1350FPS 8-shot through mine, and it would either stovepipe or non-eject just about every round for the first 30 or so. Some people suggest leaving the bolt 'cocked' for a month while being stored, but I'm just going to shoot the rest of my shells and see what happens. It is definitely a night and day difference though, the more shells you run through it. Once you hit that 250-300 mark, it should eat whatever you throw in it.

JJ. Clean your vr80 best you can. Oil the sh*t out of it, oil it some more. I oiled my piston unlike this video. Had a lot of jams and trouble first 30 rounds until I cleaned and lubed. Now she runs like a champ.
@unknownvigilante1 Жыл бұрын
@@ryansweet9104 do I have to shoot all 250 rounds in one session or can it be spread out. Like 125 one weekend and another 125 the following week.
@ryansweet9104 Жыл бұрын
@@unknownvigilante1 It can be spread out over a period of time. Also, storing it unloaded with the bolt cocked-back, will also help loosen up the the buffer spring. I stored mine like this for over a month between use, and it helped dramatically. 👍🏼

I never heard of the not lubricating above a certain point. Good info as I just purchased mine this week. Why do they suggest to run dry?
@21ctactical312 жыл бұрын
That's a great question! Long story short, blowback escapes the barrel through the gas ports and gets all over those parts of the shotgun. If we have oil in there it creates a sludgy mixture that hinders proper cycling.

Does anyone make a shortened barrel for the vr80
@21ctactical312 жыл бұрын
That's a great question! Not that I know of. I do know that a shorter barrel can increase cycling issues with box-fed shotguns. If you really want to know, I would call Tooth & Nail Armory (just outside Sedalia, MO) and ask them.

Sandpaper for cleaning? And no oil on metal too metal? Umm ok
@21ctactical312 жыл бұрын
My preference is always to use a dremel tool. As I mentioned in video, sandpaper can be used in bind though - should only be something like 4000 grit emery cloth though - and I wouldn't do it very often. I should have been clearer about that in the video. I stand by what I said about no oil though - it mixes with blowback and makes a mess. I did forget to mention using choke grease - that's always a good idea.
