Hey, new subscriber. Been trying to upgrade my tie dying skills. I was curious if you mix the dyes to dharma specs. I noticed when you apply the dye it seems to penetrate very well, with minimum white in the final result. Over the years my family and myself have just pushed the nozzle tip deep in between the creases to get better application. I was wondering if you mix the dyes differently, or if it's the result of your folds being looser, in addition to you being more meticulous and removing excess folds/creases. You’re very welcome and I do follow the Dharma specs. I also push the needle tip down in the pleats of the shirt as well. I also dye wet and dry and very tight folds like mandalas so I’m honestly not sure. It definitely sounds like you’re doing everything right😊💜

Hi! Thank you for the question! Yes you can but make sure it’s made from Cotton or some other natural fiber. If you try to dye a polyester fabric, the dye will rinse right out. Also, if you want super bright distinct colors, I recommend bleaching the item first. Hi and thank you so much. I recommend using warm water to mix the dye because I’ve found it works best at diluting the particles. You don’t really want it to hot or to cold. As far the sulphate, the dye I typically use is from dharma trading company and your don’t need to add anything to it except water. And soda ash is a dye fixative so without it the dye will not bond to the material. You can buy Tie dye kits that have the soda ash already mixed in with the dye powder such as a tulip tie dye kit.
