When I lived in Swindon I used to take the kids out to Fairford to watch Concorde take off and land. They used to post a timetable at a clearing at the end of the runway where people would park and take picnics. Magic memories of young kids watching in awe of an amazing aircraft.

I remember seeing the Concorde and Red Arrows together in formation. My father used to work as Concorde's Avionics Engineer for British Airways, G-BOAF is the "family plane," she's the favourite of the fleet

Those F-16s are just magical. My wife was talking to an old McDonnell Douglas test pilot on a cruise a few weeks ago and he said it was the best aircraft he had ever flown.

The SU-27's arrived with no droptanks, and they depart with no droptanks! Are they stopping on the way to the Ukraine or is it genuinely able to fly over there with no droptanks? Looking at Wikipedia, it has a range of nearly 2000 miles, they can fly to almost any part of Ukraine on that range from Fairford. Impressive! Actually thinking of it, I don't think I've ever seen a photo of an SU-27 with droptanks!

My memory may be playing tricks on me but, back in the late 90s, I'm sure Anatoly Kvotchur flew into Biggin on the Saturday from Russia and displayed before bothering to land his 27. And I seem to remember him disappearing off to display in Finland on the way back home after his Sunday Biggin display. Great pilot, superb displays, wonderful aircraft. Hope they're still visiting and displaying when, eventually, I can get to a few shows again. In the meantime I'm very grateful to folk like Elwyn for sharing their experience.
