I reviewed The Nutramilk which is a machine that takes ingredients like nuts, seeds and rice and turns them into milks, butters and spreads.

Have you ever tried to make homemade nut milk or nut butter? If so, how did it go?

Rican Vegan yes it was a bit time consuming but tasted delicious. There’s another machine called Almond cow have you seen it? Which one do you recommend?
@RicanVegan
@RicanVegan 4 жыл бұрын
@@monicavelazquez3652 I have seen the Almond Cow machine and it looks like a good machine too. I know when you use the Almond Cow machine to make milk it leaves behind a lot of nut pulp after you strain the milk. You can use the pulp in other ingredients to not waste it since nuts are expensive but the Nutramilk doesn't leave any nut pulp in the machine after you strain the milk. I prefer not to have a lot of pulp leftover when I make milk because I don't want to waste it if I don't have anything to make with it. With the Almond Cow you have to presoak the nuts before you put them in the machine and with the Nutramilk you don't. If you don't want the deal with the leftover pulp and presoaking the nuts then I say go with the Nutramilk if you don't mind having the leftover pulp and soaking the nuts beforehand then go with the Almond Cow.

+Rican Vegan, could we make soy milk f we cooked the soy in something else, and after that blend the soy in the nutramilk and add water? Thanks.
@RicanVegan
@RicanVegan 3 жыл бұрын
I think that could work. The machine doesn’t get hot enough on its own to cook the soybeans in it. I would recommend letting it cool down before putting it into the machine to blend it.

You could make soy milk. Just soak and cook normal, blend in a food processor, then let cool (just to not put hot in the nutramilk bowl) and make the milk normal.

Hi Rican, I just received my NutraMilk machine. I noticed that it says that the nuts must be dry before making the butter. So this raises the question: if I want to make a second batch of nut milk, do I need to clean the Mixing Basin and Inner Filer before making a second batch?

One thing I don't understand: you say that there is not residue when you make milk with the nutramilk. So, I suppose it means that the "flour" left is used in the making of the milk. Doesn't that make the milk gritty? I am sure it makes the milk taste more fatty too, since everything is used up in the almond.

How does the machine do with almond milk? Cashew milk is just as easily made in a blender because the nuts pretty much disappear into the liquid.
@RicanVegan
@RicanVegan 4 жыл бұрын
It does really well with the almond milk. I add the almonds to the machine without soaking them ahead of time and it's able to chop them down easily.

you could try roasted soynuts/edamame for making the soymilk, who knows. or even roasted chickpeas, provided it's dry roasted anyway. if you want it without oil of course.... but maybe oil could be added after the roasting, during the nut butter process. who knows. actually the hulls can get in the way and add some flavor... but there are also unhulled lentils which I found are easiest to dry roast, along with mung beans... I would soak them in water before pan roasting them to dry crispiness.. if you're good with taking out the hulls you can even sprout them. Some peas dont roast well like this and may require the hull in my experience, to even out the heat... Maybe if they were fresh instead of rehydrated it would roast better.
@the305boricua
@the305boricua 4 күн бұрын
well when you look for them they are called hulled lentils, they have the hull taken off. Hulless is different to split lentils.... a common variety i've seen are the "red chief" ones.... there could be a yellow variety also.

@RicanVegan

You might be able to since they are already cooked. Just make sure that they are dry before putting them in the machine since the extra water can alter the taste of the milk.

Hi Desiree, I have 2 questions for you: 1) Did the cashewmilk taste gritty at all? 2) Where did the nutmeal go? Is it in the base? How do you get it out/clean it out? Thanks for the video.
@RicanVegan
@RicanVegan Жыл бұрын
The cashew milk didn’t have a gritty taste. It’s very smooth. Most of the nut meal gets mixed into the milk so there is minimal nut meal that is left behind. If there is any nut meal it stays on the bottom of the container.

Can I use this for soy beans milk
@RicanVegan
@RicanVegan 5 жыл бұрын
You can't use it for the entire soy milk process because that requires heating the milk after you blend the water and soy beans. This machine doesn't heat up the milk to the temperature it needs to be in order to finish making the milk. You can use it to blend the soy beans and water together and strain it. You would just have to heat the strained milk on the stove.

Why would the nut butter be better than Vitamix? Maybe if you used fewer nuts & more water in the Vitamix, you could just use a simple strainer & drink it? Or you could just add a little water to raw nut butter from the store & mix together. You could buy quite a lot of nut butter for $500, and you still have to pay for the nuts AND the Nutramilk, anyway.

Why didn’t you grind the chocolate the same way?
@cutelittlemoose
@cutelittlemoose Жыл бұрын
I'm almost sure it wouldn't get hot enough to melt it-and it's all plastic, so if the gears were working hard enough/getting hot enough to melt chocolate, it would destroy the machine/warp every bit of plastic! Cocoa butter's melting/liquid point is around 95 degrees Fahrenheit (coconut oil about 77F); compare that to almond oil that is still liquid well below freezing point (0 degrees F). It's why chocolate chips that are nothing but cacao beans and sugar have quite a bite to them). I get 2-component hazelnut chocolate butter at the store in the giant hefty butter makers that have heavy-duty grinders, and those get everything quite hot which this machine absolutely couldn't handle-those are all steel except some store display ones have the nuts visible through durable clear plastic. What this produces is a bit more pasty than the kinds made with the help of heat, but the oils can blend in pretty well for things with high fat content that don't have too much skin (ie walnuts have to have the skin removed which is a hassle and this can't likely handle seeds, either).

Wrong, your nut butter hardened because you added cocoa fats which harden when cooked. Nutella is made with cocoa powder and sugar, not with whole chocolate.
