I have a charge-off of about 6k, thats 5 yrs and 3 mo old, can I offer like 1k to close it? If they accept, will it still affect my credit negatively? And for how long? Or if I just wait the 7 yrs and get it cleared, would that be a better option? Thank you.

You can offer whatever you want. Bu if you don't get a pay-for-delete agreement in writing first, I wouldn't pay a dime, because it will hurt your credit otherwise.

What if I don't have the collection on any of the three major credit reports, but the collection is reporting on my LexisNexus report? There is nothing to compare against, outside of it being reported on my LexisNexus and not on my three major bureau reports....

If you can find any way in which the report in not accurate, you might still have a remedy against the debt collector. Instead of comparing to other reports, compare to your own records (for the original account and against your bank) and see if you can find any evidence they're misreporting. You'll also need a copy of your LexisNexus report direct from them.

Hello, I had a collections on my credit report & I contacted them and wrote on there website why I am disputing there charge and now it’s not on my credit report anymore? Should I contact them asking why they removed it? I’m guessing they’re investigating or should I dispute with the credit bureaus even thought it’s not my report anymore or should I request a debt validation letter from the collections agency ?

I live in Jacksonville FL and an old apartment complex put me in collection for unreturned keys? Which is not true, I gave them the keys back. They were charging the same as rent almost $900 for keys. I really want some help on this, as its the only collection on my credit report, and I am looking at purchasing a home soon. Thanks so much!

If they don’t have a right to take money out of your account, then that’s theft. In most states, they can’t do that without some kind of court order. You need to investigate more.

Four years for most credit cards. If you have a signed, written contract, the time limit is five years.

The open date does NOT affect the roll-off date. You’re thinking of the Date of First Delinquency.
