Key takeaways: 1. Do not allow rice water to ferment (Let rice soak in water for 5 min) 2. Apply rice water onto hair for anything less than 10 min then wash out 3. Deep condition hair after 4. Do rice water regimen 1x per month or 1x per 2 months...nothing more frequent Great video! thanks for the advice!

Ty! I felt like rice water made my hair shed a lot. Then my hair got smoother so I lost my curls. I'm not too sad about that since now my hair dries faster and I don't have to use a blow dryer

I have low porosity 4c hair and I'm protein sensitive but I still use protein when I need it and I noticed I can use rice water for 3 weeks straight or as a leave in but U MUST USE A DEEP CONDITIONER EACH TIME YOU RINSE IT OUT so that it won't break or become hard and it will put back the moisture and softness in your low porosity hair and rice water grew my hair A lot in 2 weeks using it but w.e you do always deep condition after using rice water an you'll be good but don't over due cause protein overload is real so take breaks from it but it really does work

Im low porosity and i let mine ferment about 24 hours(2 tbs organic rice/2 cups of diluted water) THEN i dilute that after the fermenting process(1 cup of water) before rinsing it thru my hair. My hair is soooooo soft and feels strong My shedding is virtually non existent now and ive LEARNED☺ twice a month is sufficient. I simply apply my leave in and sealant after i rinse it out... (i actually prepoo and use my conditioner mixture beforehand and THEN apply the rice rinse last) and my hair stays soft and moisturized for days What didnt work for me: 1) fermenting for 2 days 2) not diluting 3) too much rice

I’m low porosity and my hair loves protein. I use rice water 2 times a week. I pre poo, wash, air dry for about 15 mins, I use rice water in a spray bottle, I sit under the dryer with two caps to create like a steam method sort of thing for 45 mins, then I deep condition...after that I rinse it out and put my leave in conditioner and moisturizer in my hair and twist it up. I do this twice a week. I make a fenugreek spritz as my daily refresher. I just think this is HER experience. All low porosity girls aren’t protein sensitive. My hair grows longer and stronger with protein. I also let my rice water ferment with no issues. Everyone is different. I just suggest trail and error. See what works for you. I allow my water to ferment for 1-3 days depending on how I feel and then I put it in the fridge and I dilute it and use it until it’s gone. My hair has been flourishing. But I won’t just contribute to rice water. I make all of my products at home so I feel like it’s all helping. Henna, fenugreek, neem, bamboo, hibiscus, aloe Vera etc. I have an auryvedic routine so ...I believe that’s what helps me. Good look to everyone here!

I think this is a confusing topic because I have low porosity hair and my hair is doing great but I also always do Amal right after. I use my rice 4 times to make rice water overnight. I have even allowed rice water to sit in my hair for 12 hours without drying results. I also think certain part of my hair is low and normal porosity. I have really good results, I think intention is everything along with research. Good Luck Ladies and I agree do what's best for your hair type!

Lensa Dugassa low porosity hair is protein sensitive, when making rice water, use long grain rice, and don’t leave the rice in the water for too long cause we don’t too much protien from the rice. So ferment for like 3 days max.

I have low porosity hair and I do rice water on my hair and my hair is just fine. I combine it with my deep conditioner and then rinse it off after my deep conditioning treatment and it has given my hair so much shine and my hair is soft. We all take care of our hair differently so I think that plays a big role in it too and I tend to baby my hair and I love my texture and all. I just think it’s different for everyone. But I’m glad you mad the video so it may help others.

Melisa Mendez I already have a nice length of hair I just stared using it last month I started out trying to use it twice a week but I feel that was too much after talking to the doctor, Ask Debbie says the rice water treatment should only be done 1 time a month so I stopped doing it 2xs a week which I got off one of the videos I had watched because I’m not trying to damage my hair. It’s supposed to be equivalent to a protein treatment so I would say 1x a month in agreement with what I was told by the doctor that I asked! I usually do a Aphogee protein treatment once a month to control breakage so I’m just going to switch it to the rice water treatment instead since it’s way cheaper and I loved how soft it made my hair feel afterwards which the Aphogee protein treatment did not do and it’s a little pricey bcuz I buy the big bottle so I can do my hair and one of my daughters hair once a month. As I mentioned earlier I also steam my hair which I do with my rice water and deep conditioner mixed and I love it but I just started doing this but it makes my hair incredibly soft afterwards so I plan to continue it and see if it also aids in my hairs growth because I’m trying to grow my hair longer than it currently is. I hope this helps you but I’m no beautician but I wish you the best on your journey!!!

I let the rice fermented for 24hr and let it set on my hair for 30mins just like you said listening to other people. I love your information it makes perfect since. I did realize I didn't need to use it weekly as I was going to do. once a month is good. now I am doing at the end of the month now. I am now fermented my rice water which I use organic wheat rice now I have to use it differently . so I will poor it out and start over on Sunday let it set for 5 to 10 mins then use it massage for 1 mins then take it out. cool thanks.

Hi, I also have low porosity hair and i think it depends on the person’s hair and (possibly) type. I have 3B/C hair and I ferment my rice water for 24-72 hours and steam my hair for about 20-35 minutes. Steaming it does give it overload (which i fix with the aztec clay mask) but when i just put it in without, nothing really happens. Also, I can say that rice water makes my hair grow when I use it right. I used it three times in 1 week (steaming) and my hair grew from an inch above my shoulders to past my collarbone. I don’t really have a point with this i’m kind of just explaining how it worked for me and how maybe it could work for you and others😂😂

I have low porosity hair. I did it once I shampooed and then rinsed and then added the rice water with a deep conditioner and covered and let sit for 15 minutes. Also fermented for a lil over 12 hours. Should it be ok to do this every week or every 2 weeks?

Girl use heat next time when you're deep conditioning with rice water!! open up those cuticles so it can fully penetrate your hair. I have low porosity too and thats how it works for me! else it would just sit on the outside of my strands... :) Good luck!

So glad hat I found this video. Low Po’s don’t have as many videos out there😭😍 I never thought about skipping the fermentation step! Extra tip: Rinse the impurities from the rice by boiling it first, or simply rinsing. A lot of people forget this step. Our low po hair doesn’t need the added minerals. I have low po 4b/c type hair

I have low porosity hair I allow my rice water to soak for 24 hours sometimes I boil it and add essential oils. I make enough to last me for an entire week by storing it in the refrigerator. I use it as a rinse and daily as a leave in spritz.I deep condition once or twice a week. My hair is super baby soft, strong, manageable and growing. It is healing my hair. I also use henna every month or ever other month. I guess everyone hair is different. Btw a steamer is great for opening up those cuticles for moisture

I did experience the straw like feeling that she was talking about after I used rice water the first time. I was so scared. The nice time I used it I did my full wash day routine including my deep conditioning, I moisturized with a mixture of Shea butter and castor than sealed all that goodness in with the rice water. That worked better

I have low porosity hair. I allow the rice to ferment 2 / 3 days. I put in in the refrigerator for 30 minutes prior to applying it. I allow it to stay on my hair for 1 Hour with heat. I only use rice water once every two months when I have crochets. I use once a month with regular natural updos.

So I know this video is older but I have low porosity hair and I use rice water once a week and I’ll let it ferment for a whole week and the trick is after you use the rice water whether you want to use it before you wash after you wash Doesn’t matter you have to keep your hair moisturized so I make sure I always oil my scalp I mix my own oils together and then I also made my own cream and then I braid down my hair and then I place my glue less wig on top I’ve been doing this for about two months and my hair is much stronger my edges are growing in thicker. This video gives great tips but this is not set in stone for every person with low porosity hair you have to find what works for you and your hair.

Yeeaaa... I wouldn’t let it sit in my hair for a long time because it can make your hair smell and may cause it to itch. I think next time I would just use it as a rinse out instead boo. I’m sorry you had to take out your box braids though 😖

It all depends how your hair feels right after rinsing the rice water out. If your hair still feels soft then proceed with styling/ if your hair need more moisture then add a regular rinse out conditioner
