Great videos quick question Why are the claas an orange cat colour as where I'm from claas s light green. White and red . ?
@Ricefarmingtv6 жыл бұрын
Mr. Morris, great question. I think it has to do with marketing and consumer acceptance of a new product. American Farmers knew Deere green and Case red. But Claas neon? What’s that. They really pulled the branding towards Cat yellow and the actual name Cat. On early machines you could barely find the name Claas but Cat was all over. And they were only using Cat engines. Everything else was Claas. So American consumers were already familiar with the name Cat and the yellow color. As time goes on you start to see more Claas branding and less Cat, but still yellow. Apparently in 2020 the will start selling Claas combines in neon within the states...now that consumers are more familiar with the name. This is all just my speculation though. -Matthew

We got a few inches of rain this weekend Leuan but nothing substantial. What we're really in need of is snow up in the Sierra Nevadas above the Lake Oroville Dam. That summer melt would help a lot in supplementing our needs throughout the year's hottest months. We should be getting a new metering of the snowpack soon. But, as I mentioned in last week's video, we were at 14% of average a month ago...and I don't think it's snowed much. In fact we had some fairly warm weather. We have a lot of march to go though. -M.

Matt -- I am wondering what one of these combines costs. Also, what it would cost to deliver something this big to your farm if you were to order a new one. Does Claas make more than one model, and are their different options that can be ordered to keep a rice farmer cool or warm? What is the wait time for someone ordering one of these and delivery? Another question I have is what it costs you to maintain one of these very large machines every year.

Thanks Matt, love the toy combine at the end. quick question: Claas is the manufacture of the Combine, but I see a Cat logo on your equipment?
@harvester46596 жыл бұрын
L B L B In 2001 to enter the US market Claas the German combine harvester manufacturer went into a joint venture with Caterpillar Inc. and opened a assembly facility in Omaha, NE. The combines were originally marketed as Caterpillar combines, with Lexion as the model. Cat was supplying the engines. First they had the Lexion 400 series and then the 500 series. In 2010 Caterpillar exited the agricultural equipment market and sold its 50% share in the Omaha operation to Claas. That year Claas introduced Lexion 700 (rotary) and 600 (straw walker) series and dumped the ‘Cat’ Logo on New Lexion Combines. The new model launch provided a timely opportunity to finally exchange the large “Cat” logo with the Claas name for Lexion’s own identity. Caterpillar is no longer the exclusive engine supplier for Lexion combines now that top models use MTU Mercedes power units. And Caterpillar dealers are no longer the only ones selling the combines as Claas develops its own distribution network. For now the yellow color has been kept for the North American market but everywhere else the Claas combines have always been green in color .

Praveen this is a great question. We don't farm GMO rice in the controversial sense--no splicing of genes. No making the seeds resistant to particular herbicides. Hi Leuan, I'm not sure! I mainly call them harvesters and because of that I prefer ordering it as a 'harvest' combine. But I'm sure either way works. It's my understanding that they starting referring to harvesters as combines when the technology advanced to one tractor being able do both the cut and separate the crop.
