Filling the water makes a good time to lay eyes on your livestock and be aware of how much they are drinking and means problems can be spotted early you pond is what in Australia we call a turkey nest dam raised like it is means you can gravity feed the water for a lot of your uses

It’s also very safe for the person doing the castrating the last thing you need is a irate sow going postal on you in the middle of treating her piglets a cross sow can do a lot of damage if she feels the need an piglets squeal like nothing on earth when picked up no matter how you hold them the minute their little feet come off the ground they just go nuts

If you give pigs the room they create their own latrine and will leave their sleeping and eating area to go outside to relieve themselves this is then easy to gather all the manure from that one spot and add it to your compost system I found you could grow anything in pig manure it was also a great spot for volunteer plats to appear because we fed a lot of vegetables to our pigs gotten from a local green grocer who gave us all his produce that was past its prime and beginning to wilt this ment the pigs got a lot of seeds in their diet especially tomatoes that would later pop up in my manure pile where I was aging the pig manur those vegetables which popped up there grew really well and produced great fruit yet all the books said neat fresh pig manure was too strong and would burn any seedlings that came into contact with it but those volunteer vegetables proved the books wrong

Pigs raised with access to pasture taste completly different to factory pork and you will never want to eat factory pork again it’s like a different animal

Ther is a lot to be said to the benefits of not going into debt for all your inferstructure waiting a little bit and getting it when you can afford it we get so used to instant gratification which is neither good nor sustainable
