When Pete was hired in Seattle, a lot of us fans were scratching our heads... Pete Carroll? Partly, because of his time at New England, and partly, as Husky Fans, there is no love lost between the Huskies and USC. However, time proved the Seahawks organization right. We fans are not in the room, we don't see the interview, what the potential coach's plan for the future is, or what kind of leadership qualities they have. I don't know who the Seahawks will hire for their head coach. Maybe we fans will be scratching our heads when it's announced. But hopefully, after next season they will, once again, be proven correct.
@ragnajonsdotter833310 ай бұрын
Russ learned the hard way that Pete Carroll was the guy who designed an offense in which Russ could be successful. He thought Pete was holding him back but it was always Pete making him the best he could be. He wanted Sean Payton? Payton dumped him. Payton is NOT a player's coach dedicated to making players the best they can be. Sean Payton is about Sean Payton. Russell Wilson has learned some very, very hard lessons about humility, about giving credit where it's due, and about being careful what you wish for. Kudos to him for showing up to celebrate Pete, a guy he reportedly wanted FIRED a couple seasons ago. Maybe there is hope for Russ yet.

I think Rich has it - Vrabel's firing was the domino that kicked it all off. The Seahawks probably thought they had another year before they would grab DQ, but had to move if they want to be in the race for Quinn (instead of Quinn to the Titans), and the Patriots made their move because they want to make sure Vrabel ends up with them and NOT at one of the other openings.

I know people want to go the reverse and grab a offensive minded head coach, but the problem at its core with this team is its defense. This defense was abysmal much of the season due to poor tackling, a need to rely on deep zone up one score, and much more. They can win games with the offensive weaponry. If they can grab Johnson from Detroit that would be enough for me to change my mind based on his willingness to empty the playbook to make his offenses work. Otherwise, their best chance at returning to the postseason relies on turning the "potential" (a word that turns any Seahawks fans stomach) of this team into production. And that potential resides in their defensive personnel.
