The playoffs didn’t set the Giants back. Daboll set them back. Everything went perfect for them that year. Schedule, no injuries and Jones and Barkley had their best year since there first. This was Dabolls first HC position on any level. He didn’t know how to deal with problems when they happen. Great coaches know how to deal with issues when they arrive. His a good coach with the potential to be a great coach. Jones took a step forward when Daboll wasn’t the play caller, now he took a step back. Throw in the recovery from the ACL. Lastly, for some reason Jones is gun shy and scared to pull the trigger. Plus the fire isn’t there. He clearly has the skill set, the speed, the toughness and the practice habits that garner respect from his peers. He’s just not making the throws when it counts.

I have SO wanted to see Daniel succeed…clearly a tough dude mentally and physically…a very good human being, and from all accounts, a great teammate…but this game really did highlight why his time as QB1 for The Giants has come to a close. Certainly he is not solely responsible for this dismal year, but you have to do more than just have some great “moments.” I hope he winds up somewhere and has success, either as a backup or a starter, but it’s time for a change..for The Giants, and for Daniel. I kept wanting to see all that promise we witnessed in his first ever start…that gunslinging victory over Jameis Winston and The Bucs. I think most of us Giants faithful were on Cloud Nine. Now it’s just overcast.

The NFL is really kicking off across Europe, I live in the UK and the atmosphere is brilliant, but having seen football (by which I mean soccer) in Germany and the UK I can confirm that the atmosphere in Germany is another level! On my Giants, nothing in New York is going to save his career there. I've said since Halloween in year two that his processing wasn't NFL level and he was a one read QB - we saw it again on Sunday with him not spotting wide open guys. The giants have tried various people on the O Line (which admittedly has never been great despite having a legit LT) and have brought in multiple weapons (Tate, Golladay, Ingram, Nabers etc) who have never worked out here - they can't all be bad, but unfortunately the common dominator is DJ.

It's ridiculous. 53 man roster and one guy takes 1/4 of the salary cap. And every time a QB with a solid starter position gets a new contract, he has to become the highest paid player in the league. Doesn't even have to be the absolute best QB in the league, just solidified his status as the starter. When has the team with the highest paid player in their roster won the championship in a league with a salary cap? In any sport? I'm guessing never.

The starting QB controls the ceiling of your team. It's just that simple. And despite his fluky win over a crashing and burning Minnesota in 2022, Daniel Jones is just not a playoff winning QB. The Giants' ceiling with him is more like 6-11 or 7-10 and then maybe you back into the playoffs once a decade or something. Why the Giants have stuck with this stiff for six years is beyond me. Going 6-11 in a good year is what backup QBs are for. You don't need to pay backup QBs $160 milion.

But Barkley wanted out. It was stupid to extend Jones, but that has very little to do with Barkley. As for him, you should have traded him in time to get picks and to make sure he didn't, you know, go to the Eagles when he left. Just a complete faceplant all round, but that guy was not staying in New York no matter what you offered him.

@@didgruntleddansnyderfan 100% correct, once DJ got the big contract and Barkley didn't, he decided he was leaving. Clearly evident in Hard Knocks when the Giants said they would match Philly's offer then the agent called back and said Philly offered an extra million. Even if that was BS, it was Barkley's way out and frankly Barkley deserved a shot at winning, just sucks he landed in Philly to do it.

Life long Giants fan here, it is not about winning or losing, it is about wanting to watch the games. I can watch games if the players try their best and are likable. I do care to watch the Giants until this sorry era is over. I was really disappointing when they gave him the bag, I knew exactly what was coming. I can't relate to Jones, I see no inspiration in his talents, I will tune the Giants out for another season. PS. I am glad to see how good Saquon is, I am happy for him, I hope he gets to the HOF. I see the same future for Nabors.

DJ is a nice guy, but he has been way out of his depth. A few games hes hit his ceiling in 5-6 years. No other team would have him starting, he would have been benched long ago.

Maybe the OL will pass block, the receivers won't drop passes, the kicker will make field goals, the running backs won't fumble and the defense will not give up huge plays and make tackles for the new QB?????

It's so crazy to me how the football community picks and chooses which QBs were "ruined" and which ones just can't play. Outside of the mental aspect there are very few first round QBs I've seen that didn't have the physical talent to be an NFL QB.

Daboll being a Saban/Belichick guy explains more than you might expect. Also Jones not seeing the field isn't that much of a surprise. Both his HC and QBC are Saban products. Of course, coming from Duke, he was just average to start with. That's average at Duke, anywhere else he likely would have been a benchwarmer.

Daniel jones was very good during the 2022 season and has shown many significant stretches of consistency. This franchise did everything they could during the first 3 years of his career to set him back. Yes he hasn’t worked out since he signed the big contract but I think there has been a huge over exaggeration on how bad he has been. This is a career that could have turned out much better under the right coaching and organizational structure early on

Every Giants fan is stating that Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll have to be released from their jobs immediately after the season. Agree is not even a question. The question is about Daniel Jones. There is no franchise quarterback in this draft. The Giants have to wait for a franchise quarterback. The following draft will have their franchise quarterback Arch Manning.

The Giants problems are almost totally on the coach. If he can see that Jones is missing on wide open receivers, then he needs to bench him. You cannot keep putting him out there, when he cannot do the job. But I guarantee that, in their next game, he will be the starting QB, and that is 100% on Dabol.

Funny how Rich’s take is the polar opposite of Don La Greca’s observation when it comes to the fans. He thought most of them were plants or actors due to how inauthentic they reacted to the game. Either way, I might be one of the few that wants to keep this game “in-house”, regardless of fandom or popularity outside the USA. This is our national sport, our product. Let’s not ruin it in the pursuit of greed.

The $19M in cap savings vs the $22M additional hit if he fails a physical from an injury means DJ is done. Only problem is for fans - what happens if they turn to DeVito and he starts winning like last year? But with no real improvement on his big weakness, taking too many sacks…
