I love seeing some of the old equipment they used and the work arounds they came up with to "get it done, son!" I am an underground miner full time in mine that is 60 years old. Not gold unfortunately but awesome all the same. That second piece of equipment you came up on was also a pump. It's a positive displacement pump. It's used for much higher pressures. It can also be used to pump mud or even a slurry with a fair amount of solids.

It came with the Andesite because it's plutonic Granite related (intermediate). Could have also stayed in the fluids passing through the Hematite (refractory) stringers too. But the Andesite brought up the ore. I learned that from you. You always mention the Andesite.

@13:52 - That is likely an air compressor. The thing that you're wrestling with to try and open is a grease cup. That top screws off and on to compress grease in to the crank shaft bearings.
@tylernelson2762 жыл бұрын
It may also be a piston water pump. They were used back in the day for high pressure applications and are known for having powerful suction as well as high pressure output. They are still in use today for modern drilling applications but are hydraulically powered. Bean pumps are a good example. If you really want to see a unique pump design check out Moyno pumps.

@Skinflaps_Meatslapper2 жыл бұрын
A lot of this old stuff is still used in the oilfield. Every pump jack has packing to seal the sucker rod and they need to be greased daily or that rubber fails and makes beef jerky. The old triplex pump can be seen on injection wells pumping salt water back into the producing zone to flush out the rest of the oil trapped within. The two stage high pressure pumps are used to transfer salt water uphill to a disposal, and the big high volume pump is used when there isn't enough elevation change to necessitate the pressure. It makes sense that you'd see the same equipment though, you're using the same pumps for the same purpose, to transfer a liquid from deep underground to the surface.

I have a lot of dreams in life one of my top 5 is to go into a mine with Jeff. As a teen we would go caving in the old mines around Charlotte. There is a restaurant that’s in a old mine. We went into the mountains and would go down 60’ on my caving rope. Looking back it was about as crazy as riding our dirt bike through town at 2am just to get chased by the local 1x. They knew who we we’re. I think they had more fun chasing us as we did running. I can’t imagine what some of those deep mines must be like to drop into. I’ll take a 4” check valve for 450.00. Imagine 70amps on a 480 line in a mine pumping water with a wax coated bearing. No Thanks…..

@13:05 - I am guessing 70 amps in nominal. The full-load amperage on startup is likely much higher. That's a beast.
@Skinflaps_Meatslapper2 жыл бұрын
On a 3 phase 70 amp rated, startup is probably in the neighborhood of 350-450 amps peak. I used to own a generator rental business, and it always struck me as such a waste that a huge generator was needed to run a small motor by comparison, but they won't do the trick if you size the generator to the continuous rated amps of the motor. These days it's fairly common to have VFD's and whatnot that greatly reduce the peak current draw on electric motors, so you don't need quite so large of a generator to run them.

It comes from the stringers. . Mostly stringers align with the vein is loaded with gold. . The vein itself is low grade but in some cases the stringers connected in it are very highgrade. . You can even see visible gold in it. ..I work in a mining company here in the Philippines and that is the case here. . Sometimes we just smile when our geologist stopped our working area because they say the vein is low grade but we can see visible gold on the stringers connected to the vein. .
