Being privileged is boring everything is easy, I get given everything I need in life without working or even asking. It makes gang life attractive the challenge and acting tough. I mean I don't even live near London and I don't plan on joining/starting a gang but still... there's something about that life from the outside that's so attractive.

As a guy from a working-class family who got a scholarship to a private school, stuff like this happens. Everyone wants that gang life, they do weed and drugs and use slang like they're on road, even though their posh accent seriously doesn't fit it. It's only until I tell them, from living on a council estate for most of my childhood and moving to a decent-ish neighborhood when I was 14, that they realise they seriously do not want that life. Honestly baffles me how they all want that type of life when they live off of daddy's money and get everything they want. Every time I hear one of them say 'mandem' with that posh surrey accent, it makes me wanna smack them so hard.

With so many youngers carrying, it becomes necessary to carry something yourself. I think drill music and drillers have influenced this situation through social media, with their beefing each other on there. So the powers to be need to shut down social media so that youngers aren't exposed to the life that is portrayed on there. I meen the music and crime would stay on the council estates where it was born, not broadcasted and glamourised into everybody's lives via the web. Crazy fkin world we are in. Peace 🤘

I think we need to consider that just because someone has money, it doesn't mean their life is easy. Privileged in terms of money, yes. But there is something he is lacking - could be love, feeling accepted, whatever. Similarly, you talk about what he had while in prison. A phone and an argos catalogue, great. What about the things he was lacking? I worked in prisons for 7 years. They are dangerous, volatile places where bullying and violence are common. There is no safety, no privacy, no family or friends. If you show anything resembling weakness you will be targeted.

My mum was a migrant and my dad grew working up class so I had enough normal people around me to stop me being a twat and acting like that, but a lot of people lived in mansions and still pretend they went through struggle.
@vishwadrikhkashyapa70162 жыл бұрын
I am also at a private school and the way the thug life is romanticised makes me so angry. I understand how it seems cool to just act tough and kill people travelling with a gang but they don't understand how bad it really is and how people can't even leave their school without fear of being stabbed. They also try to act tough when in reality they would be eaten alive in the streets of London. Also the amount of denial in these schools is absurd. They treat privilege as a sin. It is not so long as you are humble. You live in a mansion with an expensive new Tesla, don't act poor.

Bro, this shit is so fucking weird to me. I come from a very poor family. I grew up in Belgium, where we basically ended up having to rent a condemned house (danger of electrocution, CO2 leaks, it basically stood on the point of collapse) with my mum working day and night, my dad working 18 hours a day just to have enough to put food on the table and have nothing else left over. On top of that, my dad was addicted to drugs. I hopped on road at age 14 to help my family out a bit by not making myself a "burden". I moved to the UK when I'd literally just turned 18. I saw my friend get stabbed in his eye and lose sight completely, being extremely lucky to even be alive at all, another friend got run over and killed in a drug deal gone wrong, another friend got stabbed and killed, the year after that 2 friends got stabbed and both died, one of my very closest friends got shot and killed and I got stabbed for the first time, then another EIGHT of my friends died in ONE YEAR, then I lost another 4 the year after that, then I lost another 5 friends the year after that, then another 3 of my friends shot/stabbed and killed and I got stabbed twice in that same year, etc. I'm 26 now, and even now I'm still losing friends even though I hopped off road almost 4 years ago. I've been diagnosed with chronic post traumatic stress disorder and there hasn't been 1 night where I've not woken up drenched in sweat and screaming/crying, or where I don't instinctively duck when I hear a gunshot exhaust, or where I'm not hyper-alert at all times. It don't make sense how anyone would WANT that, or think that shit's cool. There's nothing cool about losing 26 close friends, or hearing someone's mum's unearthly wails as she sends her only son off in a casket, never able to hold him again, there's nothing cool about constantly being paranoid and being a fucking mess, unable to trust people because "they might try and fuck me over/kill me at some point", not even able to go outside and enjoy a walk in the park because you're convinced that every day you live will be your very last. Even when you think you've left it all behind, it's a weight you have to carry until the day you die.

This one is good example how parenting has nothing to do with the character or behavior of some kids. I have seen lot of people blaming the parents. You can be a excellent parent, but if your son go and do some crazy thing, is not always the parents fault . But of course some parents can be bad as well and make kids go through that route.

I think in this guys case it's more likely the parents are more to blame. 'This one is good example how parenting has nothing to do with the character or behavior of some kids.' I think that statement more applies to the parents who grow up on council estates who's kids get groomed and led astray by the gangs in the area. We live in an emotionally suppressed society, even more so in the upper classes, a lot of people from rich families have dysfunctional children. Money isn't it everything, especially when raising a child, they need nurture, proper emotional guidance, not just financial support.
@2yt4u.14.2 жыл бұрын
How is this an example? How do you know he had good parents? Just because you are rich does not mean your a good parent. RIch parents are often not there and not paying attention to you because they are handling a business that is stressful. You are caught up in a circle full of arrogant people. Wont get any emotional help or anything. Then you gonna get influenced

It's crazy, all I wanted to do as a kid growing up in a nasty Birmingham council estate was to work hard and get the hell out of that life. Every evening after school being chased by other gangs, watching friends, neighbours and strangers getting beaten stabbed is not something any child should have to experience. On the other side of the coin, Rich, privileged and well cared for kids are trying to get a taste of life that they think is exciting and cool, going out ruining there life's potential because they just don't have a clue. makes me sad, as I and many others had very little option to not get involved and took me moving away from my birth town friends and loved ones to get away from that crap life.

This doesn’t just badly influence privileged kids it does the same to the kids in that area. People want excitement, belonging etc no matter where you’re from and this life style gives kids that. It’s glorified in music and it appeals to our nature as humans. We want to be tough, respected, and feared it feels good to us but this energy is very misguided no matter where you’re coming from and let’s be real , most people in these areas could avoid it too if they really wanted. Obviously there are relative difficulties facing different people in different areas but what I’m saying is there’s still choices no matter where you’re from, choices to get involved and choices to not get involved and the same things that attracted the privileged kid also attract the kids from that area and they all should equally be demonised.
@Skaffa_Duck2 жыл бұрын
I look at it from 2 ways sure it influences people and plays with their fantasy so much that they do stuff before thinking about it and realizing the consequences but at the end of the day we are talking about kids while this is a 18 plus music genre if you can't monitor you're own young kids don't blame the artist it's like blaming someone who owns a liquor store because they sold someone vodka and they guy got all drunk and caused a massive car accident the fault still lies with the consumer Sorry if my English sucked btw
@steadfas Жыл бұрын
@B boi yeah if you’re an idiot with no experience of what you’re talking about. Explain how someone who comes from money has any reason to want to live this life unless they’re an idiot? It’s one thing listening to the music, but how do you come from a family of riches and success n decided this is the path for you? N how do you compare having a choice with these factors. You grow up with these things right on your doorstep, your friends are doing it, you see them everyday outside or at school. It’s not as easy as ‘you have a choice’, when it’s right outside your home. Don’t try to compare a rich privileged kid chasing something he has no business being involved in to a kid who has nothing and is searching for a means of making money or importance in life. Imagine seeing your dad driving nice cars and wearing expensive shit, n deciding you’d rather be a gang member where you either die or sit in a cell. The concept of having a choice isn’t just as easy as saying yes or no for everyone

cant stress how much it pisses me off when people try so hard to be something they're not. people wanna roleplay as the working class so they can seem like they had some sort of struggle, they dip their toes into some sort of gang life or smth like that. little do they know most the ppl involved in this do It bcos they have to, and alot of people are trying to get out of this situation. then these kids have the audacity to just exploit it for the facade of looking hard smh
@gisar.65393 жыл бұрын
I think one of the reasons that they beg the lifestyle is that they feel like people would perceive them not going through any struggles and then hate them for what they have, but what they struggle to understand is that everyone goes through some kind of struggle at some points in life. It's just for some, its much earlier and for others it's much later. I didn't grow up in a council estate, but I did live in a council house in White City (which was like 5 mins away from White City Estate) for almost the first 12 years of my life. I was fortunate and blessed to have hardworking parents who guided me and we eventually moved out of the UK (after i finished Yr7) and I did GCSE's from a private school in Africa (I'm now back in the UK). Having experienced life in two different demographics (working/lower middle class and upper-middle class), a lot of people due to insecurities and a desire for life experiences outside of their sheltered bubble would try and beg the lifestyle due to insecurities and a lot of people just do not understand what they actually have, as opposed to what other people aren't as fortunate enough to have.
