I think the real problem is existential nihilism / big picture lack of meaning. Sure - you can have all the conveniences and celebration of the self - but ultimately - you really have to think about: What do YOU want to be remembered for? I think this is the real issue and crisis happening in most developed nations. Women used to find meaning through kids/family/traditions - this worked fine for 200,000 years. Then in the 1960's that's been tossed out the window and now we have the highest prescription anti depressant use by women ages 35+ happening. You should think about who the primary beneficiaries are: Not family/people/women - but instead: Large corporations and Gov't. I have also worked with women that had it all: Money/house/investments/all that... They're still ultimately lost/unfulfilled. Sure they can have a "lifestyles of the rich and famous" instagram reel - but - none of that compares and drives meaning like belief in god/family/yes those "boring" old school traditions. I would encourage you - if you have not - meet/talk to some people from cultures/countries where those traditions are still heavily ingrained in the culture. What you'll find is a lot more content people. Sure - they don't have a ton of the life conveniences but they do have meaning - afterall - we all have our time here - think about how you want to be remembered? And - as far as women healing from past trauma/bad parenting/lack of fathers/abandonment/abuse - I am all FOR that. BUT- there's a HEALTHY and sustainable way to accomplish that - and there's an unhealthy way of doing so. Financial independence is different from doing the long/tough/not fun WORK of healing. Healing is NOT an instagram reel, a shoe/purse collection - but instead - it's setting an example and forgiveness. We're far from a society that offers that anymore. Now it's all about: "This week I'm angry at: ______________ (fill in whatever the corporate media tells us)." Then there's this constant dopamine chasing - and that's like jumping on a never ending treadmill. Contentment for people playing those games - never comes. It never arrives. Avoidance strategies are now praised - that's how FB/youtube/IG/META and others make their money - about how often you post and how much you can glorify your lifeSTYLE - it has nothing to do with morals/doing what's right/ or even truly helping people. Those things do not make corporate "america" money - which ironically - most of these "strong and independent" women are merely enriching the top 600 corporations that are working behind the scenes to make life hell for the 8 billion remaining. Is that ethical? Meaningful? Moral? I'm not god - so not my place to answer but I think those ideas are "worthy" of thought.
