I’m using a Polygon Xtrada 7-29”; changed the tires to Maxxis Ikon 29” and the riser Handlebars to flats Handlebars for MTB Jamboree races. Nothing fancy but it does the job. Using the Deore 1X12 as well. Affordable set up. 👍

Did see in the race video some of the experienced riders were running a rear mudguard, and seeing the footage from later in the race I can see why! Any reason for not running one? Would you use one if you did it again?

I personally would have put a rear mud guard on. Something like the mudhugger. There not very heavy and like the front keeps most if the mud off you. Would have kept your ass a little bit more comfy

Love all the carbon gortex gps xtr 5000LM……… but there is such a thing called the ‘plastic rear mudguard’ it’s amazing at keeping your gear clean and stops your bum slipping and sliding around giving a much more pleasant riding experience my man.

Well done Rich I think that a rear Mudhugger Mud guard would be essential. Made from old plastic bottles .They Look a bit Shit but stop you getting covered in mud /shit .

The bicycle is ok. I would choose the same BUT with lexx battery power things, for example the seat post I would choose a Bike Yoke Divine SL or other operated by cable, because it is something you don´t have to worry. The Garmin battery life is amazing, I have the 1030+ and I love it. The weather was awfull. I use to carry a small bottle with fox oil for suspension and chain etc

Pro-tip regarding bottles: Just get a proper hiking bottle that will keep fluid warm for hours. They are lightweight and far superior to those camelback abominations.

I haven't watched the race video yet (I will) just wondering if GMBN will post videos on GCN+ so we don't have to suffer with the bullshit annoying ads. Anyone else wonder just how much these companies spend on annoying us with ads??? I'll bet that money could be better spent on paying their employees better, maybe that's just me.

If I was doing the race I'd have to have cheap ebay cree lights with multiple separate battery packs for quick changes . I normally use Exposure lights but they are pricey and you'd need a few for 17hrs of darkness !!
