This still gives me a lot of inspiration for the first time ever being invited to the Dog Obedience National Championship (NOC) after so many years, thinking that you have to either have a dog that can walk on water as well as the trainer, or non-traditional obedience breed that just gets in because it "made good" for its breed. It is the competition dog obedience equivalent to being invited to the Breeders Cup because your entry did something good, or having a high standing among your animal's breed. My dog DID do something significant. She had a strong showing at a regional competition, and most of the dog/handler teams who earned more total points for the whole weekend of three trials than we did already qualified for the NOC at another regional competition. So we are in as the last listed invite on the first round of invitees. My entry is an eight-year old (or will be when the competition takes place this June) Shetland Sheepdog, or Sheltie. Shelties are a traditional obedience breed, so getting invted to the NOC with a member of a traditional obedience breed and not even having earned our Obedience Trial Champion (OTCH) title, I feel, is an accomplishment in itself. In the past year, our scores were steadily improving in the Open and Utility rings, and I am training with someone who doesn't miss details. And I keep reminding myself of Rich Strike and Mine That Bird. What neat little surprises my Sheltie will have to offer after careful training?

This race and especially Richie inspired me to do a 3D oil painting on five panes of plexiglass 16x24. Having never actually been a painter since in high school 42 years ago I was given this inspired thought to preserve this moment and I purchased all the tools needed to complete this project. I hope it turns out as good as my vision of it.

Funny you ask! That video was posted in June of this year. In September I got a notice from KZbin that one of the songs I used had now been claimed under copy write going forward and the video couldn't be played in those countries. So I pulled it offline because 90% of the views were coming for those countries. But since you asked, I checked on it. It now looks like that copy write claim has been resolved and so the video might be now be viewable in those countries again. I'll make it live again in it in a couple days and see.

@@Kid_Chocolate they all are crooked.. Groom's and all who assort the claim in all the hard work 😂.. You can't make a slow horse fast. Understanding that is understanding racing and luck. I'll tell everyone I know they are trash. They burn down the main barn and killed a bunch of horses. Without other crooked people and the help given.. Eric would be in a homeless shelter and Kay would be doing what she is only good at.. Suckin a dick.. Eric even says it is what keeps her a job and off the streets. Do some real research and go do some work for them and see if you understand why I say what I do. And ask why they won't license Kay at many tracks..

Richie came about 2 feet from coming in second at the Travers and finished 2nd by about 2 inches to Hot Rod Charlie in a Grade 2 race. He's no American Pharaoh, but He's a decent horse. Do you know the Reeds? Or did you just read this info online? I don't know anything about this. Seems Like insurance would be able to figure out if the fire was started by them or not. In fact, I think there is security camera footage of the lightning strike. But honestly, I know nothing about it. I just liked the underdog victory story line!

unfortunately this isn't the most wonderful win. No horse has ever run like... you know who Secretariat. I don't watch too many races after watching Secretariat win the Triple Crown and especially the Belmont Stakes. Nothing comes even so close or awesome. Just nothing ever like that. So while there are fast and wonderful horses running and "unsets" that many people think are great. There isn't a horse like Secretariat and never will be. So don't try to even comepar. You can't.

Secretariat was a favorite. No one is comparing Rich Strike with Secretariat. But I don't care when favorites win the Triple Crown! I care about when 80-1 horses who shouldn't be in the race upset the field. Secretariat is dead!
