This guy has a gift of making songs on a stratospheric level. I remember being a kid in Poland and hearing A Song for The Lovers for the first time. His voice was something else. This performance is on another level. Just him and an acoustic guitar. Flawless and sublime.

My favourite musician ever. Nobody does it better. Do you agree?
@davemusic8518 жыл бұрын
Yep, I second that, I have been a Lucky Man ever since I started to listen to his music years ago, and many people still think he's nothing special. I tell you, to me it's not a big deal if anyone thinks any less of him, Richard himself said that some people will think his stuff is great, some think its shit, and he accepts that wholeheartedly. The people will however openly appreciate him as a genius many years from now, albeit falsely in many cases (which is a situation that does not befit him) but at the moment, Lucky are we who could already love his stuff, and fools are they who think he is nothing special just because the mass media isn't supporting him.

It’s so good that if this was a studio recording for a final track you wouldn’t need another take, except you might not want bleed from the acoustic guitar. Ashcroft seems a bit underrated to me.

I keep coming back to this and read some comments below and agree that sometimes less is more. So long as you have a melody and amazing lyrics that's emotive and engaging, you can captivate any audience. Richard Ashcroft does this. Another lyricist that's superior to many songwriters is Steve Kilbey of The Church. Bless those that have something to sing about.
@deanbergin27135 жыл бұрын
RA is a genius, his rhythm guitar work is spot on - his random strumming patterns makes for a full sound but without the band, sounds simple, but few do it as well as he can/does.
@davemusic8515 жыл бұрын
Lately his acoustic guitar playing is being noticed for its greatness, for many years people's perceptions were mainly shifted to 'he needs the others with him' to sound great, but with time that has been disproved.
