That was a great example the manager watching sees the call went long and gives out but doesn't ask Richard what he could have differently to reduce the time. As always many call centres are poorly managed

it would help if the managers weren't so bloody intimidating!! Stress levels would decrease so much if there wasn't so much pressure to meet performance quotas.

love that calls centers are there to help you when you need a job,especially when it is so hard to find them.though that the stress is not fair, they measure u by, how long you talk, ur sales, what you say, how you say it how long it takes u2go to the bathroom &once they allow u &in a 9 hour day of non stop calls poring in you get 1 half hour &2 10 min breaks. If u miss anything on ur call,write up ect.ur use 2 a high stressful job that paid 3x's more u felt didnt rewarded not a caged rat!

I've worked in a call centre,(inbound, enquiries and sales), rude customers, please and thank you isn't in their vocabulary, pressure at busy times, supervisor once had a go at me for leaving my desk as I was bursting to answer the call of nature. Had to meet targets in answering calls, and always tthat pressure to try and make a sale too, staff turnover was often high.

@jonschell AA is a road breakdown assistance here. If your car breaks down or something, you can call AA if you've taken their membership and they'll come and sort if out for you.

Wow compared to the call centers I have worked in and managed its nice to see someplace that is clean and technology that is up to date. Sadly knowing that this was in 2007 and the call centers around here are just now getting past windows me and crt's. I am fracking jealous.

key in at any search engine 'call center health problems' a considerable amount of research can be found originating from parts of Asia/India showing health dangers of the chronic/incessant auditory bombardment experienced by the typical customer service agent with many experiencing high blood pressure, stroke, metabolic syndrome/weight gain. Does anyone remember the Verizon rep who felt that she would die on the job and stroked out at her desk w/in days of saying she couldn't take it anymore?

That was Midlands Today wasn't it? And he got off in Birmingham New Street? Because I did a seriously big squee when I recognised the train station that I go through a lot. Poor Richard, I don't think I could handle a job so demanding like that, I'm terrible on phones! D:

I start my first day of work at a call center tomorrow, we had 3 weeks training but only 2 days training on how to use the systems. It's for a mobile provider so as you can imagine the system is hella complicated, maybe I shouldn't have watched this.

I work for a large mobile phone company in one of their call centres. I know how the Germans must have felt now as like them im fighting on two fronts. I have the stress of trying to please the customers with systems that never work and then even more stress of trying to keep my boss happy as he slaps obscene targets on me. Staff turnover in calls centres is high because they are all operated in a robotic fashion of meeting targets you are simply human cattle in these places.

It depends, I work in call center for over a 4 months and it's been the easiest and most enjoyable work of my life. You just have to talk to people through the phone, most of these people are really funny and pleasant.

I worked at a call center for a year. let me tell you that it was the most stupid, stressful idiotic piece of crap job ever! I enjoyed working construction labor one summer than working at the call center. I hate the people and your always on the brink of just cussing them out for their stupidity!
@ANDYYEEE14 жыл бұрын

Really? I would have thought it would be a whole lot easier to just read subtitles then to learn sign language. But whatever, if they like it, I'm not fussed by random people standing in the corner of my screen. :]
