You both touched on something that strikes me as significant, and maybe worth exploring. That moment in time when petrolheadedness ( ! ) struck. I was a small boy, holding my fathers hand as we walked along some London street. An A.C. Bristol was parked. With hindsight, not the prettiest car, but I was awestruck. A few years ago, I was waiting for someone in a car park, when a small boy walked passed, stopped, stared at the badge, and clearly enunciated the syllables Al Fa Ro Meo. That was his moment. Like losing your virginity, a very special moment.

The thing that impressed me most about Shmee is not his car knowledge or over-enthusiastic reviews (which I actually find mildly annoying) but his videos which explain how he runs his channel. He has REALLY mastered the whole business of producing videos and maximising both the viewership - and also the whole business-side - from revenues to expenses. He's so much more than a car enthusiast, and if you're thinking of launching your own channel, watch his videos on what is involved. Guaranteed you'll learn a bunch of stuff, and also set your mind working as to whether you really CAN produce a successful and profitable channel.

I loved the moment when he said that sitting or being driven as a kid in an interesting car could shape your passion. I was lucky enough (given the circumstances of my country in the late 80s and 90s) to be driven in two amazing cars and that indeed sealed my passion for cars. They were a Citroen CX and a Jaaag XJ40. Have never owned a Citroen or a Jaguar but one never knows 😁❤️

Came in, transferred over into one of these, did a few laps and had the most engaging driving experience I’d ever had up to that point, the level of concentration and delicate control required to get it quickly round a track without spinning it was just fabulous. The undertray zipties are there because the bit the bolts go into is just some bent steel tube with a thread in, they are VERY common to seize/snap off - I would say most cars now would be ziptied. No doubt Shmees/Tim's youthful exuberance and Richards as well, are their greatest asset, in such a complex world the car has found itself in now. It always shines through. But for me with Tim, following his youtbe channel from the beginning. His specific magic, automotive journalist talent, is his broad knowledge of cars, all the old cars histories, and his diligent research about specifications and details, with any latest car he showcases....or is near!! I can't quite recall now the exact youtube video/s where I've seen Tim just in. And their is the latest and greatest model of a certain car, any sort of car, doesn't have to be a supercar. And being asked do you know anything about this new model Tim? Or have an opinion on it yet?.......to answer them, "I don't know a thing about the new model or have an opinion on it yet.....then to rattle off the top of his head, pretty much ALL the specifications of this new model, and specifications of at least 3 of its predecessors, models before. And a solid opinion about it....without even raising a sweat!!!! For me, that is Tim's magic. His overall knowledge of cars, almost a walking encyclopedia on cars! and that's what sets him apart from all the others in his field. I mean even Matt Maran (and many other cartubers) gives us youthful exuberance.
