I don’t remember when a man named Richard Harris’ presence enriched my life so ongoingly, but he did & continues to, now in spirit! For me at 74, I can look back & love he chose to share his unquestionable talent apparent in every artistic expression & understand! It was the choices of where he shone his light for us to see that are blessed to be a part of me! Hear me, Richard, thank you! Namaste

Wow, what a find, thank you for posting, I never knew that Jimmy Webb was only 22 years old, what a charming exchange between two very nice people, I'd love to have seen this Lady interview him

Agree! This song actually goes well with MacArthur Park. While Macarthur Park is about the heartbreak of loosing the love of one's life (but that maybe never quite was a full relationship) to both one's own faults/neglect and things out of one's control, still longing but realizing it's over, not Knowing but wondering just why. This song is about the the dreams and pain and nostalgia of a solder at war, and can really apply to so many other situations, from the time of a war when SO many of that horrible war's veteran's came home to extreme heartbreak and the death of their dreams. For so many who served in Vietnam, their worst fears apart from dying in the war, were realized apon their return home, their dreams death only being discovered fully apon their return. So many came home to face mental illness alone, so many faced divorce, social amandonment or just arrangement, betrayal, lost opportunities they thought had been waiting for them having gone up in smoke while they were away. Almost the very opposite of world war two in that regard. It was a real social/cultural turning point and national trajedy not just the war itself but all the social destruction and betrayals that went with it.

This music is awful. Ironing boards? Frying pans? He must have been stoned.

After many years of only being able to listen to the album, it is simply wonderful to see Richard Harris performing these tracks. The only other tv appearance like this that I know of was in the UK where he was a guest on Julie Felix's show and the billing said he would be singing three tracks from this album, but I don't know the titles. The BBC wiped the tapes (their standard practice at the time), but videos like this one can give us hope that the show may yet be found. Does anyone know what happened to the Top of the Pops promo video for MacArthur Park that was on You Tube in 2020? It was removed so quickly that I did not even have the chance to watch it in full. How can I see it again?

Diahann was a great artist, good to see her and Richard holding hands, which might have troubled some prejudiced viewers, but it's a shame Harris is miming to this edit of the song

Would love to know what he says to her when he leans in at 11.10 after the Alice B Toklas joke. (Sounds a bit like "did I get it?" so maybe he messed it up in rehearsal.)

This is utterly brilliant popular music. It’s’ amazing that it got on mainstream television at all.
