Tony did will himself to the end. His game was similar to Russels game, they just out-hustled everyone around them, found idols and controlled everything. Players tend to respect that type of game more in modern survivor then back when Russell played. I would think Russell probably wins if his seasons were more recent and I think Tony probably loses if he played during Richard or Russell's era.

Robert Otto If Russel were to have won any of his games it would have been Samoa. He should have won Samoa, Russel played a fantastic game. But in heroes vs villains he overplayed the villain persona and had horrible jury management which is an essential part of the game

No mate they are different Tony was actually good socially in his season. Unlike Tony was able to build good social bonds No offence to Russel but if the jury hates you than you deserve the lose the point of the game is to get the jury to want to vote for you too, Russel neglects the social aspect of survivor. Besides Tony was actually able to identify players he can actually beat, Kass hated no way she could of won against anybody and Woo did the same moves as Tony so he shares similar heat to Tony. He thought he could beat Natalie he didn't, thought he could beat Sandra he didn't

Yep he does get too much hype. and really he never should have won either. once after the merge when both teams/sides saw that he had 3 people voting with him they should have gotten rid of him right then and there like people did was it season 4 when Vecepia won? they saw John and his gang and got rid of John. I think it was Jenna or Kelly or someone they went to several people to try to vote off Hatch and people wouldn't get on board.

Hey Russell, recently discovered your channel, watched pretty much every video, great to see that your still such a big fan and a big part of the Survivor community, keep up the good work! I've got a video idea (if your looking for that sort of thing) that I think a lot of people would be interested in. How about a video discussing all the pregame connections between the Winners at War cast. Not all the connections are as obvious as Rob and Amber, for example Natalie was an extremely close ally to Jeremy in the season she won, then he came back for Second Chance a few seasons later and won. I wouldn't have remembered that and I'm sure there's lots of similar connections that people would like to a refresher on before the new season starts. Anyway, look forward to seeing your thoughts on Winners at War either way, Cheers!

Well you can take it from Robs playbook: 1. At first Be super nice to everybody, serve and help everybody and observe the tribe 2. Don’t reveal any alliances early on, let them be secret otherwise people feel threatened 3. Identify a person that’s the most hated and ally w him but not too close - let him be your snake pet 4. Have 2 women allies who are do or die loyal supporters - but don’t flaunt it. 5. Make alliance with everyone and make them think they are your top-4 6.Keep an eye on any alliances and squash them early on 7. Let your tribe be afraid to be seen talking w another tribe: dictatorship

Hatch is right, the point of the game is to be voted the winner. It’s not about who played the most idols or who made the biggest moves-those things can help you get to the end-but when it all comes down to it the point is convincing the jury to give you the votes. Russell will say Natalie or Sandra didn’t deserve to win, or that the jury was voting more against him than they were voting for them, but guess what, that’s the game. If you piss off the jury to the point where they want to see anyone but you win, you played poorly.

Apologize is not going to help either, remember that Amanda said "I'm sorry!" all the time and people hated it. What Russell needed at final tribal council was a better Jury management not just "I played better than you and vote you out! accept it and give me the million dollars" you need to know what people want to hear in the final tribal council. Talking to the jury player by player and talk about their moves at some point in the game helps a lot. If you want to see good jury management check out the final tribal councils for Chris (Vanuatu) he won against a bunch of feminists. Todd (China) another great jury management. Denise (she just told people what they wanted to hear and they gave her the million). Adam (Even with the whole cancer plot he still managed the jury very well).

I'll be honest I am a huge Boston Rob fan and was really mad when you played Tyson and got Rob voted off. But you were 100% robbed on your first season. I don't care if you were nice or not. Survivor isn't about being nice. You were the best player that season and I cant even remember the name of the girl who was voted the winner that year. You drug her to the final. She did nothing to get herself there. I think you are a great player and one of the few that changed the game. Unfortunately now the only way a returning player has a chance to win is if its all returning players. New players are really quick to vote out returning players. Really psyched for season 40 and I do hope they do a legends season soon. You deserve to be on that season.

Why think that he can't play the modern game? Anyone who says that simply hasn't listened to his analysis over the last decade or so. He has always been on the cutting edge of Survivor think tanks. He was talking about voting blocks and different meat shield strategies YEARS before players started doing it on Survivor. He's absolutely right that you don't understand Survivor. You're the guy who said that America deserves a portion of the vote. That's stupid, because it has absolutely nothing to do with the jury system on Survivor, and anyone who thinks otherwise is indeed stupid
