Moved to Sheffield from Romania in 2019. I love music a lot and I knew Arctic Monkeys and Jarvis Cocker were from here but to my shame I did not know about Richard Hawley. Until one day when I visited with my little boy the Weston Park museum and in one of the rooms there they had like these old phones where you could listen to various things and on one of them was Coles Corner...after hearing that I was hooked. He is such an amazing artist and in my opinion very underrated. I also like the fact that he loves Sheffield so much.

First time I saw him was a fundraiser for the Childrens Hospital and if course he is lending support to keep the Leadmill under local control.He besides crafting impossibly beautiful music has a wicked sense if humour. Go look at him and Jarvis doing the sing The Sunset from the Leadmill

It’s a shame he never broke in the USA. I have been dying to see him live but unfortunately I’m on the other side of the pond. Seems these days talent doesn’t matter and in order to “break” in a big way these days you have to be part of the machine. It’s too bad more people in America have heard of artists like Sam Smith, and not authentic artists like Richard H.
