weird week'friends': Louis Theroux reprises his role as the zany journalist sniffing out some of the weird and wacky lifestyles of the US, UK, and Europe. Louis has a great sense of humour! At times when I watch his documentaries when he comes across as seemingly naive and innocent, I can never quite tell if the seemingly genius comedy timing is intentional and the naivety is an act or if it's genuine. Duh. He obviously really knew what he was doing.
@SilentAttackTV5 жыл бұрын
I think, like he said, he just naturally doesn't like being too confrontational, and he works around that by being as non-threatening as possible to get his subjects to open up and reveal things about themselves. If people feel they're under attack they might close themselves off and get defensive. I think once he gains a certain amount of trust he is more comfortable asking serious questions. I agree he has a great sense of humor, though :)

Louis originally wanted to be a comedy writer before he went into journalism instead. And in the early days there was definitely a lot of (intentional) humour in his shows. He seems to have largely moved away from that tone now, but he's still a funny guy.

Louis has been thinking about doing a doc on stand up comedians (Creating, refining and performing new bits) for a while. I think the live audience setting is what is dictating the feeling we are picking up on. I guess it puts the onus on them both to entertain, rather than just have a high-quality conversation.
