What I think he means is first you control the energy that circulates through the fascia, then he controls the energy itself and finally he controls the mind and the aura that it is extended till two fingers away from him. These are three planes or 3 parts of reality, 3 levels of practice. Once you feel through putting your mind in him then you 'll be able to control easily. But how does it feel the vital or material energy (jing)? How does it feel the pure energy (qi)? How does it feel the mind/shen (atention, balance...)? Then think... why does he point at the middle dan tien when controlling qi? Why does he point at the upper dan tien when controlling shen? Why does he point at the lower dan tien when controlling jing? It is another way to feel... Don't think, feel
