Susan continues her journey to share with you how to connect to a person's fascia and move them off their base with the lightest touch. Susan is choosing people randomly, who know nothing about Tai Chi and demonstrating the technique. She then teaches the technique to the person to demonstrate how easy it is to learn!
In this video, Sifu Susan demonstrates how to connect to fascia of another person to easily move them off their base. This is a long held secret that makes you more effective not only in moving another person, but in moving throughout your day with ease and less effort.
-------------
Many thanks to Shifu Lin of Phoenix Mountain Tai Chi and to the late Master William Ting for deepening my Tai Chi journey. Shifu Lin spent three days with me with open teaching to build on my skills and show me this fascia technique.

I did Tai Chi for years, including some push hands and sword. No one ever mentioned this directly (although it may have been implied). Fascinating.

Thank you for your comment. I have been very fortunate in having wonderful teachers willing to share the "secrets" as well as my background of Occupational Therapy which gives me strong understanding of physiology of the body. The reason it is not transparently revealed is because it takes the mystery away from what seems impossible and magical. And it is obtainable for most everyone. Therefore, it is rarely if ever mentioned directly. The fallout of that approach is that the very essence of Tai Chi is getting lost and becoming extinct. Myself and other high level, confident and secure instructors are trying to change this through sharing this knowledge. I am still learning and cultivating the skills that layer on top of tapping the fascia, which makes the effect even more powerful! it is an exciting journey I plan to share as I develop too.

I got the book "Natural Born Heroes" based on your recommendation. WOW! It is fantastic and what a great find to see something written about the fascia that isn't directly Tai Chi related, yet validates the technique. I am about half way through the book. Thank you so much for recommending it!

This is the first presentation on this topic that actually makes sense. Several other people have attempted to explain this technique, no dice. Other people insist that it doesn't exist (willing partners, shills, etc.). Adam Minzer tosses people around using this technique and delighting in never explaining how it works. Well done Susan ! Thank you. I do find playing with the fascia connection to be fun for both people. My students are having a blast connecting to fascia in each other with the lightest of touch. There is something joyful about it. I think it is because it is an equalizer and is common to all human beings. Plus it is a fairly easy, attainable skill.

Sifu Susan, thank you for this great demonstration; I've studied some energy work through other teachers but no one has explained the fascia this simply with such a clear demonstration. I see in other comments below that some folks have studied Tai Chi for years but never heard of this. Question, what body of knowledge within Tai Chi (or Qigong) is this found in?
@InternalTaiChi
@InternalTaiChi 11 күн бұрын
Thank you for your kind comment. Connecting to the fascia is a body of knowledge that spans all Tai Chi and Qigong but has been a long held secret and withheld from traditional teaching of Tai Chi. The main reason is because it is so easy to acquire and creates magnified success. However, the true art of Tai Chi (which I am still and always will be, learning) is becoming extinct because of all of the "closed doors" in which a student traditionally had to go through to be given the true essentials. It is my goal, and that of other high level teachers (check out Shifu Lin of Phoenix Mountain Tai Chi who is magnanimous and knowledgeable in his teaching) to teach with open heart and motivation so to elevate the level of Tai Chi to new levels for everyone. To address your question on a previous video: yes, this is what you see other Tai Chi practitioners such as the individual you mentioned, etc demonstrating but not teaching it directly. Eventually the skill becomes more developed such as you see in them. It becomes so subtle one could never figure it out unless it is being communicated and taught. If you read Lao Tzu with the understanding of the fascia connection, you can easily see he is communicating about this technique, but in deeply layered code. It is now time to remove the layers of secrecy and give Tai Chi the chance to develop and grow like other arts. I hope this helps you along your journey. In time I will be offering courses and workshops as well. Thanks for your excellent comment and for watching!

@@InternalTaiChi how you feel you got their joints?
@InternalTaiChi
@InternalTaiChi 23 күн бұрын
@@PalaniInn I think this is where things can get tricky for folks. Because I am a therapist, I am used to feeling and sensing other people's joints. But as you could see in the video, a lay person can do it too. I suggest trying it on yourself first. Gently grasp your forearm and twist the fascia (this is a fairly light touch) until you can feel it connect to your own elbow. Then continue up to your own shoulder, then down the spine and all the way down to the feet. Once you can feel it on yourself, you can easily transfer that awareness to another person.

@@InternalTaiChi What if you were actually genetically related, like part of the same family..? That would be doubly freaky, but, I guess, in this wide and cumbersome world, to find even a few companions along the Way, people we feel simpatico with, is a blessing. Beware of piano players who only play by rote or frustration..! Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder and thus we might say when we are all beholders, beauty is...or to make it faster up the hill, kill ego, and whatever we do or see or hear, thereafter, is transformed...what we thought to be noise has notes far surpassing simple surprise, but no, we should return to coincidence or coincidentia oppositorum, the nondual dual, essentially negative capability. Some of us are teachers; we like to learn; we ask question, teach ourselves and others, loving the journey of parceling know-how, finding joy in discovery, utility, smiles, and yelps of knowing, play, as if for the first time, and there are others who tow the straight but difficult line of the tightrope walker, part art, part magic, silence on the score of 'teaching', where even learning is mistress merely to the joy of the mesmerizing dance. Or, it may be that we divide unnecessarily between novice and expert. The Tao is for everyone...and the joy is endless...

It you are trying it and not getting results, it is likely that your touch is too deep. You must access the layer between the skin and on top of the muscle, not in the muscle. It is just enough pressure to create a gliding of the skin. Once you have that, then you can feel it connect to the elbow, then use your intent to connect to the joints. I will be making more videos. Feel free to email with specific questions.

It is physics. Whatthe next thing is would be for the larger person trying to push the smaller one but the smaller one had the ability to use the larger persons force causing the larger person to push themselves away. There’s a few mathematical formulas that explains it. Let’s save that for another time🫡👍🤙✌️🙏
