A rare 1965 BBC interview with the great tenor Richard Lewis, CBE (1914-1990). And here is a link to my Richard Lewis playlist: • Richard Lewis (1914-1990)

How lovely to hear my father's speaking voice - my only other memories of him online are singing... many thanks.

I had the very great pleasure of meeting--and singing for--your father in the 1970s when I was about 22. He was on tour with the Bach Aria Group in the US. Before hearing me, he was discouraging about my pursuing a career, talking about how very difficult it is. Happily, after I sang, he said that, if i worked very hard, and if I couldn't bear NOT to sing, that I had a chance to make a career. Though I never reached his level, I did do well, singing while based in in NY City for over 30 years. Your father has been, and remains, one of my inspirations. He was very great.

one of the most beautiful and poignant voices to ever sing Handel - - there's a tenor, Zeger Vandersteene whose timbre reminds me a bit of Richard's
