My husband and I sang this song at our wedding 25 years ago. We were obsessed with Richard and Linda when we first got together and wanted to be just like them. We are still singing together after all these years.

This song sung and played by R&L will always make me cry and break my heart. This is from someone who will likely (like millions on this planet) be alone... no one who will love, the inability to love back... If a heart is broken, then where would the home be? That will always be a personal question.

This is from a performance on the British (BBC) telly program The Old Grey Whistle Test (TOGWT) which ran from 1971-1988. It had an uncanny knack of finding and featuring superb artists before they became better known or artists who SHOULD have been better known. For a treat, look on KZbin for the TOGWT performances from Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music in their earlier days with Brian Eno.

It is wonderful that artists evolve and develop over time - you couldnt ever quarrel with a song of RT's he is such a craftsman songwriter and his playing is so fine - Must confess that my favourite era for him is from Liege and Lief up to First Light. The furious collaborations with Swarbrick and then the spiritual desolation/searching and then the reigious-tune-as-lovesong (which is an old tradition in Sufi Islam) Planet Waves to Street Legal is a similar peak IMO - the raw true stuff.
