One of the best interviews I have heard about bodyshaming. Being (too) tall is an issue, being short is an issue. I completely emphatise with Richard Osman, except I am on the other side of the scale. Just slightly short of 5' I am constantly being told how 'different' I am since teenage years till adult life. I was even put to sit at children's table at a family gathering cos one of my aunties thought my size was just like the rest of my younger cousins aged below 8. When I showed I did not like it or told my parents, I was told I was being too sensitive. I constantly get remarks like 'can people see you?' or 'whats happening down there' as they tower over me. Definitely affected my self esteem growing up and even in adulthood, it does trigger my self consciousness every now and then. Whether it's intentional or was it to break the ice cracking a joke, I just think that nothing is funny at the expense of the other person's feelings being hurt and we are all humans at the end of the day. I don't see what is to highlight on one's stature especially on height when people are so careful with plus size people. We are all people that have feelings and certainly there is no need to be reminded. Thank you Richard for saying this and Diary of a CEO for having this conversation. 👍

Love Richard Osman, he’s so smart. In our family 6’7” is definitely not out of the ordinary. No. 1 son is just reaching 6’9” and loves his height. I found it more frustrating that people would discuss my daughter’s potential height while she was stood right there being embarrassed. Dude, we only came to watch the play / film, etc!

It’s true, what he says… not just about height, in Richard’s case. But, just being around people in general, when one individual. Just as Richard stated…, “it’s not just you, it’s five other people… every single day, for…ever…”. That really can grind some people down. 2:17

"I'm 6ft 7, which is too much" is it? ok well thanks for telling me, a fellow 6ft 7 guy, that I'm 'too much' - even though paradoxically that seems to be the exact type of comment you are speaking out against here? "every guy wants to be 6ft 2" do they? ok thanks for telling me what height I want to be. actually I'm fine with being 6ft 7, and I genuinely cannot remember the last time anyone 'reminded' me about my height either. weird.
