So I was lucky enough to go to this show. Me, my two uncles(one who is seen taking pictures) and two friends. We are/were all BIG Richie fans. We stayed in line all night at the Hollywood Palladium to get good seats but when the doors opened and we went in, the first rows were already taken. That sucked but my point is, we were there on the first night and being huge fans started chanting Mudbone, Mudbone, he didn't have a skit ready at that time so this Mudbone skit he must of come up with overnight cuz we didn't get to see it. Anyway, just taking the credit for getting you all getting to hear Mudbone one last time. LOL.

The truest comedy is birthed in pain. I've seen and enjoyed comedians from the fifties onwards and Mr. Pryor was a master at converting pain to comedy and; in my opinion, was one of the greatest comics to provide laughs to humanity over the past 70+ years. So much of what passes for comedy nowadays consists predominately of statements that are at other peoples expense - an easy way to get a laugh. True comedy is very hard work. Even Hollywood and the Academy never appreciated the art of comedy until very recently. Genius's like Richard Pryor deserve all the praise we can muster.

I am a scholar of literature. I have written about novels, short stories, poems, and stage plays. Believe me when I tell you that especially with Mudbone, Pryor elevated stand-up comedy to a level that is truly among the greats - Plautus and Terence and Aristophanes and Goldoni and Molière are chilling with their peer in the afterlife. What that man gave us is ART.

True Random Story: I finished my mile walk this morning and am sitting near a gorgeous fountain at a park. I haven't caught sunrise in a while. As it came out, I closed my eyes, basked in its warmth, and heard Richard's voice: "Keep some sunshine on your face." I smiled and turned my head over and over to ensure the light touched every part of my countenance. Boy, did it fill me up. The sun is inspiring. 🌅💛 Something nudged me to find this Mudbone monologue, as I haven't watched "Sunset Strip" in ages. When he said the sun came out on Wednesday, I gasped inside because today is Wednesday. 😂 As often as I have seen this standup, I forgot that small detail. Yes, the sun rises daily, but my arbitrarily revisiting this clip felt like a God wink. 🙌🏾😉 It has been a rough life season for me, and He knows this. But He is still there among everything, speaking in ways He knows we'll understand. Thank God for Richard Pryor. He was living art: through all his pain, knowledge, and joy, he put a smile on so many faces and hearts in a way nobody else has. Forever my inspiration. ❤ This anecdote tells us we don't need much to be happy. And whether we are where we want to be or have what we wish, make life a grand old ball. Here's to living, not existing. 💛☀️🌅🌞🌻😉 I love you guys.

I saw him on television at my Mothers house. He was being pushed in a Wheelchair down the aisle, towards the stage, after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. I took one look and tears started streaming down my face. Mother asked me what's wrong? I said he reminds me of Terry. (My older brother, the first of five children....) he'd been diagnosed with MS, and dealt with it for a long time. Mr. Pryor's body language, in his wheelchair, made me want to hug him, rock him, and kiss his hands. I want to cry thinking about him. MS is one of the most Horrifying diseases people deal with. God Bless Anyone who has had the MS card dealt to them. Bless their families.

When Bob Newhart says you’re the best and his favorite comedian, you’re the best! Bob Newhart was one of the most brilliant of the dry-delivery comedians. He had two hit shows that ran for many years and became classic, so that’s high praise. Of course you don’t need Bob’s endorsement when anyone that has ever heard Pryor knows his genius. Not only was his material funny as hell, but just like George Carlin, there was always a relevant subtext to much of the material. His material is timeless, unlike so many comedians whose material becomes dated quickly.

When i was younger I didn't realize he was doing a character, about his character while staying I'm character 😳 the amount of talent and 4th wall breaking taking place will never be duplicated being how original and groundbreaking it was. All comedians have their own style but being from Peoria, IL I'm a bit biased 😆 in one Mudbone skit he mentioned walking down Jefferson to catch the bus and farting the whole way. Little did he know that a street and building would be named in his honor off Jefferson St. in downtown Peoria. R.I.P. Richie. The world will never get another one and I guarantee he's up there in the clouds with Gene and Robin talking shit about people passing by and telling dirty jokes 😆
