I was playing with one of my dogs tonight, holding one of her toys over her head and dangling it in front of her, saying to her “now what’cha gonna do, what’cha gonna do?“ And all of a sudden, Jim Brown and Richard Pryor jumped into my mind. So of course I had to go look up this scene on KZbin and listen to it one more time, probably for about the 1000th time, and listen to the heartbreak of friendship versus addiction. I am 72 years old, and this scene still strikes me as hard as the first time I heard it probably 40 years ago. Still just as powerful and just as true.
