Televised interracial choir in 1952. Fascinating to watch.

Race harmony was very important to Rodgers and Hammerstein throughout their careers.

Fantastic…the best version I’ve ever heard…it surpassed the “Kleenex” test…tears come when something is that moving and beautiful.

Goosebumps!! This Rodgers and Hammerstein song gained a second life when Gerry and The Peacemakers' version made it a huge hit in Britain, and Liverpool Football Club supporters adopted it as their song. I'm not a Liverpool fan but I have to admit that there is no more exciting anthem in a stadium when it resonates in every corner of it...

Oh boy as soon as Juanita Hall started singing I burst into tears. This is such an emotionally charged version of a great great song enhanced by a racially mixed choir. Thank you for posting.

Classic.. so wonderful.

I would have loved to be in that chorus. (We'll ignore the age and my trouble with staying on key issues.) Excellent voices and a good arrangement under the baton of the composer--wow!

I'm reading Richard Rodger's daughter Mary's memoir Shy. She couldn't stand this song and hated Climb Every Mountain even more. I love Rodgers and Hammerstein, but I agree with Mary Rodgers.

Why did Celeste Holm stop singing at the end? Seemed odd.

I don't know but she sure looked good.

I noticed she stopped singing at the end as well as one other point. I've never heard Celeste sing in my 65 years. Wow, what a wonderful surprise.

Not best version but nice...disliked song since some moron decided it was ok to request and played at my wedding reception while husband & self were already dancing to a much more up to date tune...was rather awkward and embarrassing...we cut it short!!
