Happy to hear this one again! I practically grew up with it, as we had a recording of it in the days of the early 10-inch LP. I've become somewhat reserved about 20th century music in the meantime, but not Till. I have no recording of it now, but this NDR recording and a more recent one from WDR keep the fire burning. Wenn man die Mimik von Christoph von Dohnànyi bei dieser bezaubernden Aufführung beobachtet, dann erkennt man, dass dem Filius Justus sein wunderbares schauspielerisches Talent eindeutig nicht nur von mütterlicher Seite in die Wiege gelegt wurde.

When the recording was made, the Elbphilharmonie did not exist yet, and the orchestra was simply known as NDR Sinfonieorchester. The venue is the Laeiszhalle (also known as Musikhalle), also in Hamburg.
