When using a tube-fed shotgun (M4, SG-500, Trench), the first round you reload from 0 takes much longer than the rest, so watch your ammo and reload when you have 1 shot left instead of using them all.

Generally its adviced to reload as often as possible. When you lets say wasted the bigger zeds and only a few cysts is what you face. Loading 1 or 2 Shells before finishing them off before their reinforcements arrive.

Support is one of my favorite perks, but the first few levels are BRUTAL because you just don't have the firepower yet. I like getting the HZ12 early on, since it can deal with pretty much everything that's not a Large Zed in one 2-round burst. Then I get the Doomstick as soon as I can afford it and upgrade both as far as possible. Oh, and King Fleshpound is just THE WORST without a Support and a Medic.
@squirrely_wrath6 жыл бұрын
just go with the starting weapon, then the double barrel, then upgrade or get a AA12, keep upgrading those. its a breeze. edit: the alt fire on the double barrel is a life saver

@serpentmongrel2 жыл бұрын
The double barrel is a beast. Costs 750 dosh, wide spread, high damage, squares up well against scrakes and fleshpounds, and it pairs up well with most other weapons (if not all) in a loadout. And jumping backwards with the alt fire can get you good distance in the event you need to be evasive, which can be a useful trade off at the cost of your ammo.
@ilovehertodeath6 жыл бұрын
I find the support is basically in the perfect spot right now. If they nerfed support at all they would be too weak, but if they buffed them they would be too strong. They are right where they need to be, great for killing groups of trash, being able to drop scrakes and fleshpounds with headshots, and great to have on a boss wave for solid damage and the extra ammo and possibly extra armor.
@autumnwitchmaple6 жыл бұрын
Takaithepanda Yeah, I actually agree wholeheartedly. What I love most about them is that they really are a support class. They are the tertiary member. You have a commando, a slinger and sharp, and then in between all the cracks is the support. It just feels so perfectly designed. Not only is the balance perfect as you said, but i feel the support is in a place where the perk is "perfectly itself" right now.

@SalaComMander6 жыл бұрын
I personally love the trenchgun. I admit it's the least helpful gun in my arsenal, but I've built my support build around...supporting...Which for me means filling in small but necessary jobs that my team may not be prepared for, and while Bloats may not be a high priority target, if we don't have a Firebug, they can eat a lot of ammo (get it...because they're fat). The trenchgun takes care of them pretty fast.
@psycosanches5896 жыл бұрын
SalaComMander I would say that’s the same for EDARs, but an EDAR can be taken down super easy with even a basic, unleveled 9mm
@BDozer6666 жыл бұрын
Problem with Trenchgun is that it's not that good vs Bloats. The DOT isn't strong enough to quickly kill it through body damage, using it on Support means you don't have the DOT time extending skills to even do so with one shot, and it's too inaccurate for headshots compared to other choices.

I just started playing the game, so I decided to go through the basic training scenario with every class to see how I liked them. One of the later perks I tested was Support. The pump shotgun awoke some primal instinct in me. Some feeling that went "FUCK YEAH, LET'S GOOOOOOO" Now, I get scared very easily. When I first tried to play a few months ago, Clots grabbing me scared the shit out of me and I would panic fire. But once I was able to test out the AA, I was practically taunting them in my head, daring the zeds to come and get me. And once I fired into a swarm of Crawlers and Clots, it was all over. I have officially fallen in love with Support.

Another great guide. Something you should mention about ammo based skills in the future is that you can take the skill, buy the extra ammo, throw the weapon on the ground, switch off the skill, and you'll keep the extra ammo. Works for mag boosting skills as well. Making ammo skills even worse then they already are... EDIT: Do NOT pick up any ammo boxes after you do this, however, as it will reset the ammo count for all weapons you did the trick with. Also does not work with dual wielded weapons. The mag boost skills trick, that is. You still get the extra ammo, just not the mag size boost.

One thing I thought would be in here, gorefasts and gorefiends take a lot of damage from shotgun type weapons and are a prioritised target for supports?
@jacobwickersham25166 жыл бұрын
Wineblood Any perk can kill any zed. See a zed? Kill it. But to be less of an asshole, yes, you do deal extra damage to them. They're not exactly a priority target so much as just another trash zed to shoot in the head just like everything else.

Headhunter_FRANK Eh, he's weak to fire, so caulk'n'burn would actually be pretty reasonable against him. He's one of the very few situations where firebug actually shines.
@autumnwitchmaple6 жыл бұрын
Wineblood In my opinion, separating trash zeds from each other is not necessary. They are all killed very easily and efficiently by the people who kill them anyway. Big zeds take a bit more personalization to really take care of efficiently, so it starts to matter with them and bosses. The thing previous commenters here missed, I feel, is past the fact that any weapon can kill any zed (which is technically true), is that any weapon made to kill a tier or type of zed will do it just as well regardless. It doesn't matter that a support kills a gorfiend over a commando or a firebug, so there's no real reason to differentiate, I feel. I cannot speak for Richard's reasoning, but if I were to write the script for his guide, to be honest it would not even occur to me to mention. Cheers!

Do not underestimate the HZ-12. It is the best "long haul" gun in the support arsenal. And i always carry it to boss fights. Its a weapon that can deal rapid and fairly high damage with skilled recoil management. A competant support can handle a scrake or FP if not much else interferes. It is clip reloaded. And with the extended mag skill, the only way you will deplete your huge ammo supply with this gun is if you try to. It has a reasonable choke, and damage at a reasonable range for a shotgun. So you can do multi-kills on trash even at range. It is an *excellent* all around gun. And i havent used the m4 in 2 years because of it. If i need a tighter spread weapon, i ccan hold onto the sg500 untill i get the aa12. And the AA-12, with mag extension, is fantastic against bosses and Scrakes/FPs. Nail gun? What is that?

feel like this video could've been a bit more open-minded. there wasn't any real acknowledgement/discussion on fortitude, armor piercing shot and penetrator, the three (i assume) least used skills for the support. i like seeing people discuss the benefits and potentials of off-meta compositions in games. when you only showcase the "better" skills then it becomes less of an introduction to the perk, and more showing a viewer how they should play said perk, with no encouragement in experimenting and personalization, and in some cases fun.
@desperlol6 жыл бұрын
hope this didn't come off as me being irritating, just expressing an opinon
@jacobwickersham25166 жыл бұрын
desperlol Firstly, penetrater is just awful, no questions asked. In comparison to being able to fire in real time, it's just hot garbage. Armour piercing rounds can actually be really good for clearing trash. The issue is that you're giving up being able to do consistent big zed takedowns at more than just point blank to close range, and it just isn't a worthy trade off. Fortitude is just bad. There is never a situation where you would want to trade more dps for more survivability, and is why survivalist as a concept is dumb. Why bother going for more survivability when you can just kill the zeds before they can ever hurt you? This isn't a case of people not wanting to experiment. People HAVE experimented with these, and in doing so, have found out they just aren't worth taking.
@jacobwickersham25166 жыл бұрын
desperlol And also, some people, like me, have fun in these games by optimizing the fuck out of skills, perks, etc. It isn't fair to assume that using the meta in a game isn't fun for different people.
@desperlol6 жыл бұрын
sorry, i never assumed that no one ever had fun in having meta-optimal loadouts. personalization in itself is just optimizing your loadout to your specific needs as a player. it's just that this video is really only showing those meta-optimal loadouts and how you *should* play a perk, rather than being a more inclusive guide on how you *can* play a perk. it's dismissive to just write-off these skills as not worth it for any player. of course, people have experimented with these and found them not worth it for themselves, but some players really do find abilities like fortitude and berserker rage to be beneficial for them over their counterparts, and it'd be nice to hear things like how it exactly helps a player out in a positive/neutral stance rather than saying it's terrible, should never be picked, calling it meanie names, etc.
@jacobwickersham25166 жыл бұрын
desperlol First off, thank you for acknowledging my point about fun. Allow me to elaborate on why I said the things I did. The point of this video series is to be a guide. Therefore, he is going to write off skills and weapons that aren't worth it. That is to be expected of a guide. You CAN play the perk any way you want, no one is stopping you. However, this is a team based pve game where picking the best loadout is paramount to being as big of an addition to the team as you can be. It is therefore okay for him to state that certain weapons and skills are just not worth it. Do I think he could have explained better why fortitude, armour piercing rounds, and penetrator are bad? Absolutely, and that is a criticism I have for him. If you still want to play the perk however you want, more power to you. Just don't expect others to be too happy when you tell them you're using something that is not optimal. I'd stick to solo for screwing around.

This guide fails to mention one oddity of the Support's arsenal. Shotgun pellets are always considered to be projectiles in KF2, even outside of zed time, due to the lower muzzle velocity of shotguns in real life. A good Support player will have to take the pellet travel time into account when aiming for zeds at range that are moving laterally to the player's position at all. Aside from this, I consider Support to be the best perk in the game for versatility and overall utility.

I find tight choke redundant outside bosses since support is meant to clear large packs and tight choke just makes the cone of death smaller without really having much of an impact. Armor piercing shot makes the AA-12 extremely good when dealing with big zeds since you pretty much kill everything behind the big zeds, sometimes including other big zeds since damage after penetration is based on remaining penetration power. It also makes bloats much more bearable since they have a very high penetration resistance and might otherwise block a lot of the pellets when clearing corridors or when opening doors with pile of enemies. Resupply pack and concussion rounds is a 50/50 in my opinion, since there are many classes with crowd control already and the resupply pack helps with ammo economy. Most of the time big zeds die before they get a chance to deal damage anyways, and more ammo helps with that. Upgrades on support weapons still feel quite lackluster, since the damage increases are really small while limiting your versatility.

Chilionloppu The Support is a big zed killer too, and not running tight choke ruins it. Penetration is already good against trash and can actually be an issue with big zeds on the field. Tight choke just means you hit what you intend.

I have an idea that could partly negate the long reload with guns that are reloaded one-shell at a time. What if there was a skill that would allow the player to add two shells at a time?

strange the dragon's breath on kf 1 usually was the best weapon to deal whit most zed even if you where not a firebug at the moment.

I don't agree at all with what you said about tube-fed shotguns. I think tube-fed shotguns are far more superiore than box-fed ones, at least in a zombie game such as Killing floor. Reason being, you can ALWAYS shoot an enemy in front of you without having to finish the reload like box-fed ones have to. Example: you're running from some zeds and deplete your magazine, while you're running some zeds (most commonly stalkers or spiders) come from the direction you're running towards, with box-fed shotguns and any other weapon you would have to completely reload your gun before you can shoot it again and kill that one zed that is blocking you. The zeds will trap you and you take damage while reloading your gun. With tube fed shotguns instead this won't happen because they are the only type of weapon which can shoot while you're reloading! You don't have to wait to fully reload all the sheels, you can just shoot them whenever want, you will be able to kill that one zed that is blocking you from behind and avoid getting cornered or trapped by zeds coming from opposite directions. This is also the reason why I think shotguns are the best weapons to make a withdraw or a change of position with, which in games like KF2 happens very often. Plus, as one of the top comments said, a good support always keeps an eye on their shells count because you never want it to go to 0. If it goes to 0 you will take more time to reload you first shell because of an additional animation, always reload when you have 1 shell left. So yeah I think tube-fed SGs are far more superior than box-fed ones in videogames. Sometimes I won't take the AA12 and stick with a +2 upgraded M14 because I want the benefit of being able to always shoot what's in front of me without having to wait for the entire reload and taking damage for free or worse, ending up trapped by zeds

I'm so used to aa-12 double barrel medic shotgun combo. That was just god tier on 6p games. But nowadays the loadout is boned. So RIP triple shootiegun

I must be the only one who likes the HZ12. Instead of cashing out both shots asap I just do a steady rate of fire on trash, and save the boomstick for the big Zeds.

I wreck with the dragons breath on big ZEDS. I shoot the fp/scrake until they get stunned by being engulfed, then swap to the m4/aa12 and unload. The classic one-two punch. Great video nevertheless!

I always go for the hz12 first. Excellent trash cleaner, and has plenty ammo, then I get a doomstick for the boss.

From the time I first used the boomstick it was true love though it does take getting use to. I usually go with either boomstick + M4 or boomstick doomstick combo though honestly it takes getting use to and you should definitely have all your ducks in a row if used. For obvious reasons.

You forgot to mention the the double barrel boomstick sends trash to space with headshots. Or just turns them to spaghetti. Either works.

I might be doing it wrong. I use the M4 for small to meduim zeds and I just unload a AA12 into Fleshpound. I get the DPS of an M4 is higher but the larger mag of the AA12 gives you more unrelenting Firepower imo

I would rather use the m4 its Very effective

You underestimate the med shotgun. It's a clip-fed shotgun that can be paired with the AA-12 and high-capacity magazines.

Derpmind The M4 is much better for damage per second. The nail gun is also a better pair with the AA12 for trash cleaning.
