Your spiccato is so clean! What are the ways you do to achieve this??

I tell my students that clean playing, including spiccato, is about preparation and synchronization. For example making sure the bow is set in the string before each note, getting the timing of your string crossings, left hand set before the bow pulls the note, and adjusting bow speed/pressure for different strings and registers. Most students try to play shorter, or more "off", this will get a peckier sound but not cleaner.

Right now I have a Krutz I paid about $5000 for. With a good trade-in, I could upgrade it to something in the vicinity of $10,000, but probably not more than that.
