i just wanted to say thank you so much for all your videos. so many of the youtube fisherman are making videos for views or clickbait. you are making videos for fisherman, teaching advanced techniques while giving great information. when you put that lure on the rocks and described your knots, you are teaching extremely high level fishing.

Richard, I have been fishing below Guntersville Dam since 1973. I mainly fish on the north side. At the Dam crappie seem to use the rocks on the bottom for cover and to break the current. I've caught a lot of crappie from the bank on the bottom. A few times back when the limit was 50 crappie, my step brother and I each caught the limit. Last fall one Saturday before an Alabama game, I had a couple of hours to fish and I caught 2 huge crappie on a reef runner cicada of all things. Great video!

I agree with the others.... hands down, the VERY BEST fishing show out there. 1) - Richard Gene can catch anything using every method anytime under any conditions.... thunderstorms.... still catching fish, drought... still catching fish... heat wave... still catching fish.... snow storm... still catching fish... flooded water.... still catching fish... off the bank with a cane pole... still catching fish.... in a boat in flooded back water.... still catching fish... he’s a rock star. 2) - he’s a teacher. I learn from him every show. He isn’t just reeling in fish, but he takes time to explain how and why it’s working... or if it ain’t working and he adjusts and explains what adjustments and why. 3)- he’s hilarious!!!! If he ever stops fishing he could do stand up comedy!!! I am thoroughly entertained every episode!!! Big time fishing companies are completely missing out on this guy.... snatch him up with a six figure retaining fee and throw your brand on him. He’s MONEY in your pocket!!!! Best all around fisherman in the US of A!!!!

That "black crappie" out in the middle of that rip rap is unusual Richard. I normally catch the "white crappie" out in open water like that. I have been catching real good crappie there of both kinds on that side for a good many years. It's them giant minners that keep em hanging around the water is so oxygenated the shad love it and them huge crappie just open that big mouth of theirs and run through the whole school and bust em up like big stripe and largemouths, spots & smallmouth do. I've seen em jump clear outta the water. And I tell ya hwhat. That my friends is a sight to behold👌👏

My first time fishing for crappie was back in the 70s. A friend took me out in a small boat to a gravely place he new in the lake (Black Lake in NY). We threw a jig on the bottom and drifted to the end of the gravely place, then drove back to start and drifted again. Caught tons of crappie that way.

I remember as a kid, I went up and asked a fisherman below a dam what he was using, because he was packing out a lot of white bass. He told me about, and gave me a few White Sassy Shads. Me and my dad tore them up. My whole life, we were lucky if we even caught a couple at that place before we discovered the Sassy Shad. My other favorite lure is a clear/light blue Swimmin' Minnow. I started using those under a bridge, off of a rocky bank. Caught a lot of white bass with it. Also saw a couple of guys catch a couple of nice flatheads with them under that bridge. I also used them at another lake, off of a little dock and caught some white bass and a crappie.. But what sucks is that I can't hardly find those Swimmin Minnows anywhere. I guess I should just look online and find them, or something similar to them.

Right before the sun comes up the sauger will come right in close and you can kill them on chartreuse jigs casting just like that. We use waders and sauger will bite right in knee deep when you’re about to pull the bait out of the water to cast again. Right before daylight and when the sun goes down. Dam fishing is fun, so much action. We also catch sauger on the boat with jigs and spoons straight up and down near the dam

Hey the basic how-to in working your tackle and catching these fish is nice for me. I must be a lousy fisherman, because my opportunities can be years in between and I almost never catch anything more than a teenie panfish no matter what I use or where I go. I know I've been doing it wrong.
