Adore how you say narcissist btw. I spent years trying to convince myself that he wasn’t a narcissist 😂. Turns out I was wrong

TY, Richard. My fav word was EGOMANIACAL . Theatrical, too! 😂 I'm bringing it back.
@Néerlandais-p1q4 сағат бұрын
Richard says a lot of things that are true, and how you can keep the wrong people out of your life, and so you see the red flags, people can be so wrong and keep up a nice mask, but through the videos and explanations you quickly see it

That interesting, because I used to call people egomaniacs years ago. Narcissism didn't even enter my vocabulary until 2022. I knew plenty of egomaniacs. My brother for one.

Awesome video! Richard the Rock is my new name for you. The “pscycologising” epidemic has become fuel for gaslighters everywhere. Enough is enough.

Some psychologists have stated that, that they dont even think narcissism should be a diagnosis
@vincentruben43654 сағат бұрын
Good stuff. Diagnosing NPD has major implications. It’s hard to be sure. Patients don’t read textbooks. In psychiatry things aren’t often the ‘typical’ or ‘classical’ case. I’d rather use ‘narcisistic tendencies’. But ego mania or ego manical or just good ol fashioned ‘selfish’ are also great if not better descriptors. So NPD won’t suffer as much from ‘inflation.’ if everything is NPD then it loses its meaning and discernment of severity between cases becomes harder.

Yeah, I'm at the stage where I don't really care what other people's diagnosis or mental health condition may or may not be. Are they abusive (mentally, emotionally, physically etc)? Do they treat me with care, love, compassion? If not, I don't need them in my life or living rent free in my head. I'm looking at myself, my behaviour, how/why I ended up in relationships with certain people & what I can change in myself to ensure my life is calm, peaceful, caring of others & worthwhile. I think I could easily, at times in my life, been diagnosed with eg: BPD; high in trait narcissism, etc. I'm in no position to be labelling/judging anyone else. I can only change me.

I started singing "I can't make you love me, if you don't. I can't make your heart heart feel something it won't..." to my fake spouse. I'm tired of begging my spouse to love me. Six years passed since we....it's because of HIM, not me. He'd rather not experience human touch unless it's himself. It's a sad, torturous existence.

There is nothing wrong with having an ego so let's not pathologise and psychologise that term. We need an ego to operate in the world. Why don't you just say, 'self-absorbed?'
@jpberti713 сағат бұрын
They dont list subjective qualities of experience is the DSM because it uses signs (not symptoms or subjectively experienced criteria) to diagnose. Ego, ego mania are poor choices for people with NPD because that is almost opposite of the issue. Yes, they can behave 'egotistically', but the reality is that they possess an extremely flimsy, almost invisible ego. And those signs 5 or 6 out of 9 presented in the DSM... are the indicators that the person has this personality disorder. How on Earth is a psychiatrist going to discern someone with NPD's subjective experience when they are notorious liars? They have to use different criteria.
@HerWanderlust14 минут бұрын
You ask me which criteria they hit I can list em out with examples 😂 I do try not to use it unless I actually have examples

Pretty dern weird, My NPD Mom used to blurt out I am not incontient, I don't have addictive behaviours. She did
@harmonyvaneaton41013 сағат бұрын
Well....how would you go about understanding the inner experience of someone with constantly shifting delusional versions of reality, facts, and history and is also a compulsive liar?
@jonathanclayton91072 сағат бұрын
So do your courses work with ego maniacs. It sound like u are saying there are more of them out there or are u just selling a course?
@mandy.austin4 сағат бұрын
Nowadays when lay people use the term narcissist, it is just a way to reject someone, as you say. It's not helpful that every man and his dog has learned the term in the last few years.
@kızılelma20004 сағат бұрын
Histrionics are egomaniacs, no?
@alwanmariaСағат бұрын
I see and hear you, but it’s more than annoying.. Have you ever been in a diagnostic place ? You can SPECT SCAN THEIR BRAIN, just like with psychopaths they look at the pattern of the behaviour too.. Psychiatry is the only docter that dosen’t look at the subject he’s analysing..
@bluecandymsp28 минут бұрын
Psychology isn't a science. There are no brain scans to identify & then diagnose personality disorders.
