@@Betterdaysfishing I’ve always fished lakes and never really done a river float and been eyeing the Collins! Is there a shorter float that you would recommend for a first time out but still catch a few?
@@Betterdaysfishing awesome I appreciate the info! If you end up over on Chickamauga give me a shout maybe we can fish some or at least put you on a few good ones!

That would be incredible! Have to make a trip out there one of these days. Haven’t fished for Muskie since I was a kid in Michigan 40 years ago.

Heck ya fellas. Great day it looks like. A very special region for sure, maybe too special to spot burn on the internet in the future? I am an avid angler in this neck of the woods and love seeing people get on these fish, but make sure to take care of them. Heavy leaders (80 pound fluoro minimum or steel) and ideal handling techniques (without boga grips to prevent jaw fracture) will help ensure all these musky only get bigger for years to come. A large net, hook cutters, jaw spreaders, LONG pliers, and handling gloves can often times save lives out there. All about water temps when it comes to these fish and their mortality in regards to season to fish. Anything over 76 degree water temp becomes the danger zone for these fish dying, often times due to "delayed mortality" (so they may seem to swim away OK but die later). Cheers BDF!

Thanks for all the great info! I definitely have all the necessary gear and I'm even going to invest in jaw spreaders. I recently saw a in-depth tutorial about how to handle the fish without boga grips. I'll make sure only to tell viewers about public boat ramps owned by the TWRA and US corps of engineers specifically.

Nice fish!, what time of year would you recommend fishing for them?
@Betterdaysfishing3 жыл бұрын
It's legal year-round. It's frowned upon in the summer. I'm sticking to late fall through late winter only.
@romaboombox3 жыл бұрын
Ain't gonna lie...you just ruined this by naming all the spots. No need to book a trip. I can just go there and put in at that ramp
@Betterdaysfishing3 жыл бұрын
Most of my trips are with clients who don't have a boat or a kayak or a canoe. For those people who do have the ability to hit the water, my channel provides access to public TWRA and US corps of engineers boat ramps.

Keep on doing what you're doing Richard. Your videos are educational and entertaining. It's easy to see you have a genuine appreciation for the sport of fishing, and you do everything you can to help others enjoy the sport just as much.
