The "Dream" is there, but the reality is, there is excessive planning and coordination going on along with it. One couple with 2 separate minds dealing with hundreds of people. Their mission; I imagine, is for their guests to remember having a great time, in a beautiful, lavish, get-a-way oasis with them on their special day, enjoying every minute, it has to offer. But deep down, many of them can't wait to get back home to business away from this place. Unfortunately, you can't always pass that feeling along. But the thought is there.

My take on destination weddings is if someone has one and they don’t offer to pay your way then it is their way of saying they really don’t care if you go. It is a huge expense and if they want you to attend they will pay for your travel accommodations. It’s ridiculous to expect one person to pay a couple of grand and fly thousands of miles to see you get married when you live 30 miles away from each other.

Yeah it is wild to say "Hey, you love us so much you're going to take an entire vacation budget, days off work, cash-in on childcare requests, etc. not to vacation WITH us, which could perhaps be fun... but rather near us. We'll see you for a bit as you sit through our bullshit. We'll talk to you for a couple minutes maybe. And you can leave your registry gift on the table over there. He’s right. No matter what anyone says NOBODY really wants to travel at length to someone’s wedding. I’m embarrassed to admit people from all over the country flew to Florida for my wedding. In all fairness I was TOTALLY against the idea of ANYONE coming accept the 2 of us and witness. And if we didn’t need a witness he could’ve skipped it too.

I am amazed at how common destination weddings have become. What happened to getting married in the church down the street and having a reception close by at a nice place? In addition to that craziness, bachelor and bachelorette parties are now week long or long weekend destination events as well. It's crazy.

It's because deep down most people know they will never get that much attention and focus ever again. Most people want to feel special so some sick every last ounce of time, money and energy from their loved ones. There's some horror stories online that have gone viral. Many people fall out with these bridezillass because they realize they're very bratty and taking advantage of them.

I'm with Larry! "Destination weddings" = selfish and/or entitled bride/groom.
@ericbaker8807
@ericbaker8807 Жыл бұрын
Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I strongly disagree. A Bride and Groom can and should do whatever they want that makes them happy if they have the financial means to do so. The day is about the bride and groom. Just don't be disappointed when people don't show up. Bride and Groom should make it very clear that there are no expectations for people to come if they don't want to. The selfish part would be to have a destination wedding and be upset when people don't attend.
@TAshby1
@TAshby1 Жыл бұрын
@@ericbaker8807I fully agree with you. Any bride and groom who get angry at guests for not coming to a destination wedding is wrong and any guest who gets angry at the bride and groom for having a destination wedding is also wrong. If you can come, come. If you can't, don't, it is that simple. You're not obligated, you're just invited to come if you can.
