Here is a pretty big beaver dam that I will remove by hand. The beavers have been removed and it is time to lower that water so the farmer can harvest his hay.
This one is for you(s) ‪@KatherineUribe-1‬ ‪@kevinheard8364‬ No music, just the sound of water lol.

Job very well done! I would have trenched it first where the water was already leaking through in the hopes that the pressure would have blown out the middle but that might not have worked anyway. I noticed towards the end where you stomped around on the top, the mud liquified and washed away with just the pressure of your feet so well done. Great video!

Thanks. I do have a method lol. It really depends on how much water I have to work with. I usually remove all the debris on the back of the dam first. It is hard to pull those sticks out once the water is flowing. Plus it keeps it out of the drainge ditch down stream. We are on clay pretty much everywhere here. The dams vary rarely let go. Once the sticks are gone that's when I use my feet to try to move the clay using the current of the water. It I had a helper I would have removed more from the back of the dam first. It makes the job easier as you go. Thanks for watching.

You do need help plus it's safer in two's, they must have had that one up a long time when you get through take great care of that amount of water it's a powerful force and let that power take on and do its thing learn when to step back and appreciate What you have done for land owners owners and the environment saving other animals together clean water in essential.

So I know they weave the sticks, but the mud gets deposited by the beavers as well? I'd say you are lucky they don't sniper.

Hello, Yes the beavers pack the dam with mud, clay and rocks as well. They dig long tunnels into the banks as well for additional places to live as opposed to just their beaver huts. It all usually gets added to the dam. Lol, if they did I am sure I would be part of a dam somewhere by now 😆 Thanks for watching

I get it but hear me out.... This is municipal drain responsible for draining water from roads and farm fields. I got called here due to the farmer not being able to harvest their hay because it was now under water. The water is still there for the other animals that live there. It flows year round. I just returned it to the level it was before the beavers moved in. It may not look like it but this water runs parallel to a road. A few more inches higher and the roads people use to access their homes would be under water as well.

Everything has a right to life , even beavers , the habitat they create is awesome, it encourages other wildlife to exist where we selfish humans that we are have destroyed everything we touch , we destroy for our own selfish gain ,beavers do so to survive, we have persecuted them for centuries maybe it’s time for a rethink , it’s time humanity took a good hard look at itself !!
@geneplumley4136
@geneplumley4136 2 жыл бұрын
Correct you are right, everything has a right to life. Unfortunately these particular beavers took up residence in a municipal drain causing farm fields to flood. If left unchecked the road was next. All the wild life that was there is still there, except the beavers. The water was just returned to the level it was before they recently raised it. The water flows year round there. We have the right to survive as well. We are dependant on food, travel, infrastructure and shelter. This is not destroying for selfish gain, it is surviving. We NEED our food, the ability to travel and access to our homes/shelters. For the people who live along this road their shelter, income and food was getting affected.

@@geneplumley4136 that I understand. And I applaud you for that answer ,but I am concerned about the indiscriminate destruction that is happening where it is not strictly necessary ,I fully understand clearing drainage ditches to keep farmland productive , but while we do have to eat to exist , so do other creatures , we as human beings seem to have forgotten that , and that is so sad as we are not so slowly destroying our own environment as well.

@@tinawilliams4284 Not gonna lie, I was dreading your response, lol. We seem to agree for the most part. I am glad to live where I do, we have lots of space to co-exist. At least where I live these beavers are pretty well protected. I have to hold a license and stick to strict quotas to manage the population. Believe me, we have a very healthy population, lol. I grew up in the city (Toronto, Canada) so when I moved north to a small town it was a shock. I completely understand what you mean by destroying our environment. I am never going back, lol Cheers, nice talk. 👍
