From the first time I heard him, regardless of my tastes in music, Richie proves himself to be a living Guitar Legend. While our parents had Hendrix, Beck, Clapton on & on .. We have Kotzen. Who among a small handful singlehandedly make 6 strings the symphony they were intended to be. Pardon the long comment, this song (never heard by me before) this recording .. moved me.

Unbelievable talent! More than 25 years of work. Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame should be the next stop! I adore Richie and would love to see him in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame!!!

Richie should do a complete version of this........like the one he did with poison. the original song had great vibe, with kotzen leading the voice, it'd be more awesome.

Lately I can tell that something ain't right I don't see the fire when I look in your eyes One time up and the next time down This may be the last time that you see me around, said Well, it sure seems to me nothing matters tonight And all those things we worked out, they got lost in the fight It's not enough, girl, that I gave you my soul I just want to know if we've got anything left at all and I say Hold on now, baby This could be the last time we stand This could be the last time That we say goodbye The picture shatters I can't find the words to save it Tell me what to do, how can I make it right? We will always be fire and ice Well, promises made in the heat of the night You could sure spit them out, girl, but they've long passed me by Nobody knows about the show you put me through This could be the last time that I get through to you and I say Hold on now, baby This could be the last time we stand This could be the last time That we say goodbye The picture shatters I can't find the words to save it Tell me what to do, how can I make it right? We will always be fire and ice Well, I can't stand to see no more damage done But you'll never understand until you suffer some and I said Hold on now, baby This could be the last time we stand This could be the last time That we say goodbye The picture shatters I can't find the words to save it Tell me what to do, how can I make it right? We will always be fire and ice

Wow!!!! What would make this even better is to have the choir singing to, like in the Poison version. Love the band Winery Dogs with Portnoy and Sheehan. I always felt, despite the rumors surrounding his departure from Poison, that Bret was being out shined and outdone by Ritchie & he couldn't take it. Ritchie's music makes you really feel what he's feeling which is missing today. There's no soul in most music today. Much appreciated for this post!!! Thanks man!

Richie wrote this song. Bret could only dream that he was half this great. If I were Rikki Rockettes fiancé, I'd ditch him too for Richie.

That's why Bret Michael's is still a household name in 2017. Poison will be heading out on a huge arena tour this spring, while Richie is posting videos like this to you and all 10 of his other fans, nice try #PoisonHater
@fearlessfrable267 жыл бұрын
Boy are you clueless. Richie admits in this video that Bret helped him redo the song which is the version everybody knows. How many number 1 hits has Richie wrote? Bret wrote Every Rose Has It's Thorn, a song 100 times better than Fire & Ice. Not to mention the many top ten hits Bret Michaels and Poison have written. C.C Deville is far better than Richie and his bingo hall tours.

Seems most of the bashing comes from the Richie fans. You guys can't just say that he was once in Poison then got fired over a stupid thing he did and leave it at that? Most of these comments are all about bashing Poison and Bret, which I don't understand.

Damn I'm lucky subscriber 777.. lol.. Richie Kotzen is simply an amazing gift to us.. I saw him back in May.. small venue.... It was hands down the best concert I've ever attended.. My brother will attest to that as well.. Incredible talent ☮️💯

It sort of is a studio version. He isn't playing the guitar 'live' You can see around 2:46 that is strums a chord and he isn't playing....still a great version.

Richie amazing performance. I think everyone knows Richie is a bad ass singer and guitar player and excellent song writer. However when I hear the whole bashing Poison thing in all these posts I think it's crazy. Yes Richie was amazing and helped make a very solid and under appreciated Poison album Native Tongue. However to say Poison was so beneath him and so on is crazy. Poison may not have the talent of a Mr. Big, Dream Theater or even Tom Keifer but Bret Michaels knew how to write catchy songs that people still sing too today. Songs like Nothing but a Good Time , Every Rose has it's Thorn are still played and loved over 30 years later. He can still put people in the seats and has found a way for his songs to be passed down a generation. I would have enjoyed to see a couple records with Poison and Richie but it didn't happen that way. I agree live Richie was probably the strongest musician in Poison at that time. However even today C.C. Deville carries the load for the band live. Yes he may have big hair and quirky personality but go to a Poison show and you will see one heck of a guitarist live.

Richie and Chris Cornell should have done a song together. No one could have told the difference in who was singing.
@Έμποροςθανάτου4 жыл бұрын
Wow... this song has so much more soul this way. The brief period Kotzen was in Poison was the only time they had anything resembling credibility. It's was a case of terrible timing that kept that record from going anywhere.
@roxannemoser3 жыл бұрын
That's because even though the songs were credited to the band, Richie was the actual songwriter.

Hate to say it...he isn't playing the guitar "live" look at the footage around 2:46 - there is a strum on the guitar but his hand doesn't match. Pre-recorded guitar, I'd say so he could concentrate on his vocals?
