Richmond citizens, wake up and vote no on this tax. It's a $90 million per year tax that benefits politicians, while you'll be stuck paying more for everything. Many people don't realize that almost everything they use daily comes from refinery products. This isn't about health and the environment. The Richmond refinery is the cleanest of its kind globally, with employees who serve many years until retirement. If health were a concern, no one would work there. Don't be misled by activists who don't even live in Richmond. They brought high school kids to the council meeting, whose speeches showed no understanding of the situation. Chevron has invested over $2 billion in the community since 2018, contributing 25% of the city's revenue. If Chevron leaves, we all lose. It's time to partner and work together, not add more regulations and taxes that we end up paying while politicians build their empires.

Chevron knows they’ve had a detrimental impact on the Richmond community. This tiny tax will help offset some of that. I hope it passes.

You're not real smart. You will pay higher prices for everything you need to live. The refinery was there before these residents. Thus the real culprits are the Democrat City Leaders who allowed residential neighborhoods to be built near the refinery.

The city of Richmond doesn't exist if it weren't for the 100+ year old refinery.

It's great to implement health and safety regulations, but Shaking down one of the biggest employers and tax payers in Richmond for half of their yearly profits is not smart. If they shut their doors due to this Richmond will become Detroit of the west coast. It's odd to hear people choose to move/live next to a 100+ year old refinery and blame the refinery for being a refinery. The city exists because of the refinery. Think long and hard about strong arming a business like this, because it will absolutely end up with a huge loss in tax revenue for the city, local businesses that workers patronize will go under, already high gas prices will shoot up, the cost of everything will also shoot up as EVERYTHING is delivered by trucks, and thousands of jobs will be lost when they shut their doors.

Why would you move near a 100+ year old refinery. Seems you as the newcomer made a choice and now you want to blame anyone but yourself. Do you know why a refinery flares? You understand it's a safety mechanism right?
