I would love to see a live action movie of this. In the right hands this could be amazing.

The Den segment of the Heavy Metal movie has a comedic tone, compared to the dramatic tone of Corben pages.

I mean, he's even voiced by John Candy in it. Yes, John Candy played Den. I couldn't believe it when I looked it up. He pulled off a really good tough guy voice.

@@chaoticiannunez2419 Yup. A comedian! There weren't even interested in giving it an honest effort as a drama. All too often that's been the case with graphic-page-to screen-adaptations in Hollywood. Various Japan studios have suceeding in faithfully adapting hundreds of manga to anime. Heavy Metal couldn't even manage one movie. Even with an army of (directionless) animators.

OK, what I don't get is if David Ellis Norman (Dan) was an engineer on Earth than why hasn't he used his knowledge & skill to craft things to help him in his battles instead of fighting like a common uneducated Thug?

Like Spock in ' City on the Edge of Forever ' , all Den has to work with are " stone knives and bearskins " Just because you know exactly how to use vacuum tubes, doesn't mean you can refine tungsten or berillium from native ores, or blow the necessary glass vacuum envelopes. I doubt there will ever be one man who can reinvent all technological progress.
