The difference today is that the best fighters don't give us fights of the year consistently as they did in the past ala Tyson, Holyfield, Leonard, Hearns, etc etc. That Finnegan fight was a classic and you only get fights like that when guys face the absolutely best competition and take big chances in those fights. I love Bob Foster!! Absolutely one of the best light heavyweights ever to reign. He had that same build and musculature as Tommy Hearns and was truly “the hit man “ before Hearns. Make no mistake, a wiry guy with a big punch is dangerous and hard to fight. The mention that he was considered as an opponent for Floyd Patterson is very interesting. Too bad it never happened. Not sure which way it would have gone, but watching him against Dick Tiger (and Floyd’s chin) kind of makes me feel like I actually have seen it. I always thought Ali’s win over him was not particularly satisfying. Frazier’s was definitive and the only time I’ve ever seen Foster truly KOd. Foster would have gone broke if I had a Time Machine. Because I’d tell everyone in the light heavyweight division to definitely not fight this guy. It’s kinda funny to me that these old time boxing announcers like Don Dunphy, compared him to Bob Fitzsimmons. Could there be a less relevant fighter? I’m pretty sure Foster spent zero time studying Bob Fitzsimmons. Anyway, I Love Bob Foster!! One the best ever!!!

@allinfun829 Micheal Spinks had insufficient amount of power for the light heavyweight division, his knockout ratio was pretty darn good... And Micheal Spinks style would've been why too scientific and modern for Bob Foster, and the awkwardness of Michael Spinks... That awkwardness and Speed would most definitely put the Spinks Jenks on Bob Foster... Micheal Spinks would just be way too advanced tricky quick and awkward for Bob Foster...

@allinfun829 Avon Derrell was his name who flooded Archie Moore a consecutive five or six times if I'm not mistaken... But given the facts that the Old Mongoose hasn't been ko'ed in any of his 100'n something lightweight fights really should give credence on rather or not the the man could stand up to the power of Bob Foster, it's apparently clear that Archie could have... I mean come on, if Archie Moore hasn't been knocked out in any of his light weight bout then you'll have to give Archie the benefit of the doubt of going the distance... Do you know there's actually been other fighters who have went gone the distance with Bob Foster, so why not the Old Mongoose... But Bob Foster is your lightweight all-time favorite, I get it...
