I think something alot of people forget, that played into the pickle rick hype, Was the the scene of him murdering all those rats was released as rough line work animation footage way before the season even aired. So fans were already curious about why/how rick becomes a pickle and gets into a beautifully animated, smooth, and violent fight with rats. So then when it aired, fans were like "ohhhh snap it's the pickle rat episode!!!"

Them getting dressed up for therapy that the school made them get is very spot on for toxic families. Because it’s not about solving problems for toxic parents, it’s about putting on a good show so you dont have to go back. Beth is actually doing the same thing Rick is doing - trying to avoid actual discussion of HER role in her family’s dysfunction. So she makes her kids dress up, tries to direct the conversation onto what the KIDS did wrong in order to present the image of a good mother with problem children, and gets angry when the therapist tries to get her to talk about her own issues with her father and how this has affected her kids.

I know how this is going to sound But the fact that not every character’s joke lands makes them feel like real people. Like the vindicators, nobody in the episode was laughing at Rick’s jokes either except for Nubnub giving him props - and we did see his whole thing was for Nubnub and NOT for Morty. When Summer says “boob-yeah” nobody’s around to really hear it but it sounds like something a teenager would say when they haven’t tuned their comedy the right way yet.
