I'm so glad he's embraced his own goofy Internet meme with such positivity and gratitude. He is an extraordinary and versatile singer, with an incredible back catalogue of music that is so much more than this one hit. And yet he sings it with his whole heart, and with real sincerity, every time. What a legend. I hope it's led a lot of new listeners to discover the rest of his work too.

I’ve worked with Rick on a charity gala; he sang this twice. Once with tracks and once with his band. With the track he sang it in original key absolutely fine, no issues. It was an isolated performance in the day, whereas he played a full set with his band in the evening and took it down a semitone. Either way, his voice is in remarkable shape!

If you watch all his concerts, you will see that at the beginning, in the first part, he never sings "... and so do I (do I)". It is a high note and he always puts the microphone on the public. I understand that it won't reach that note without autotune, but if it lives from that, it could work on it. In theory he is a professional.
